Acne vulgaris is simply a name that is given to "normal acne", it affects mainly teenagers it is possible for the condition to get worse once the sufferer gets older. There are Acne Vulgaris treatments.
There are characteristics of Acne vulgaris which are below.
Whiteheads : Usually this is due to a pore being blocked completely, this is due to bacteria and dead skin cells causing a white area on the surface of the skin. Whiteheads tend not to last as long as blackheads.
Blackheads : These appear when a pore isn't blocked completely, the dark colour (black) isn't caused by dirt as a lot of people think, it is actually the skins own pigment reacting with oxygen in the air. Blackheads are firmer in structure and stay around for quite a while.
Papules : These are red bumps with no head, they are tender and inflamed.
Pustules : A whitehead with a red ring on the outside of it, commonly known as a pimple.
Nodules : Large bumps under the skin, don't squeeze these are they can leave scars.
Cysts : Looks like the nodule mentioned above but is filled with puss; they are painful and can be up to 2" in diameter. These can also leave scars and squeezing them can lead to further infection.
