Affiliate Marketing programs
53Ever wondered if it was possible to make Money with Affiliate Marketing?
Guess What? You can! Affiliate marketing is actually a very good way to create an income. There are programs for physical products, digital information products and even network marketing affiliate programs. All you are doing is promoting other people's products. Just go and find a product or service that you want to promote, you may or may not even use the product. It really doesn’t matter. Then see if they offer an affiliate program. There is usually a link at the very bottom of their web page. Then sign up for their affiliate program.
Now once you've done that and are approved, get too marketing. The quicker the better, since you don’t make money unless a customer has clicked on the affiliate link you have provided either on a site of your own or maybe an advertising link embedded somewhere like your outbound emails.. You can even advertise a lot of the products on Google or MSN, just mind the rules your affiliate places on you. You don’t want to run afoul of their rules or any laws that may apply, especially if you have commissions on the line. Some companies will tell you that they have to right to with hold if you violate their terms.
Nice thing is though, once you comply and get there product
visible, somebody will click on your link.
Then hopefully a good percentage of the people that click on your links
(referrals as there known) will make a purchase. That’s when you earn a commission, with no
items to package or ship and no payments to process. The person who owns the product picks up the
ball and does all that for you. Your
job is to drive people to their product.
What skills are
helpful?
A little knowledge about marketing is good, but not required. You can learn as you go. There are a lot of people on the web that specialize in teaching you about affiliate marketing. There are even sites that have network marketing tips. Just be careful.
Knowing how to write is important, since content is one way that will attract people to what you have to offer. Good content on a website can bring people to your site by making your site show up high in the searches engines results.
Another skill that can and will come in handy is SEO (search engine
optimization) optimization. Search
engines are how you get stuff found. Every
body on the web has used one at some point to go out and find a product to
buy. So the higher you can get a
website ranked is due in part to your SEO skills. Which of course, makes it easier for people
to find a website, and hopefully it's yours.
Then they can see the products you are promoting with a link to click
where they can go and get it.
What tools are
needed?
Really the only tool needed is a website. There are other ways to promote affiliate
items but a really good website is the best way to promote your affiliate’s
products or services. You might even
decide once you get the hang of it to have a few different websites with a few
different affiliate programs attached to each.
Another tool is learning how to add affiliate links in your outbound emails and in your forum signatures. Which neither of the last two require you to have a website at all. Remember though to check your affiliate's policy!
How do you get
started?
It’s fairly simple to get started. If you already own a website, go out
and see what products are available that you think pertain to the subject of
your site or maybe even products that don’t pertain at all. Good examples might be vitamins on a health
website, or vitamins on your fishing website.
You never know who is going to click on your links. The person could have been on your site and
remembered that they needed exactly what you are promoting. Simply
by doing a little research to see what other people are promoting, how they are
promoting it and where they are promoting it will help you in your quest to
make money with affiliate marketing.
Last thing you should know
Once
you have signed up for an affiliate program you will be given an ID. This ID
will be used in the links that you put up on your website or other vehicles of
advertising. These links are very, very important since this is how the person
or company you signed up under will track your referrals and any payments that
you are due. I know, you are thinking,
how will I know if they purchased the product once they are off my site. You won't necessarily, just remember that there
are a ton of very reputable companies out there that are waiting on you to
promote their products and services.
Have fun and Good Luck!
