Ani Lorak (real name Karolina Miraclavivna Kuyek) was born on September 27, 1978, in the city of Kitsman, Chernovtsy oblast` in Ukraine. She is an Ukranian pop singer.
Ani Lorak became known as Ani Lorak in March 1995. She had to invent her stage name when she was participating in the contest of the Morning Star television program in Moscow. There was another Russian singer with the name Karolina, which is Ani Lorak's real name, already enrolled in the competition, so Karolina saved the situation having read her name backwards. Karolina- Ani Lorak.
Then she moved to Kiev,Ukraine, where she started her career in show business. Ani Lorak became even more popular after winning the "Big Apple Music 1996 Competition" in New York, USA. She became "Discovery of the Year" at the popular Ukrainian festival "Tavria Games" in 1996. The same year she released her first album "I Want to Fly". In 1997 her two videos "The Model" and "My God" were filmed and the latter became a soundtrack to the movie " The Right to Choose". Her musical career was certainly under way
In 1998 her new video" I will be back" was shot. Her two music videos "Oh my love" and "A strangers city" were filmed followed by her new album "I will be back".
In 1999 Ani Lorak met the well-known Russian composer Igor Krutoy. The first result of their joint work appeared in the autumn of 1999.It is a widely known composition "Mirror". In 1999 she earned the title of Nationally Recognized Singer of Ukraine.
Ani Lorak has been repeatedly recognised as the Singer of the Year in Ukraine. Her credits include two solo shows on the country's central stage, ten albums, one single, biographical film, and 23 videos. She is the most beautiful and sexy woman of Ukraine according to the results of polls by popular magazines.
Ani Lorak provided support in publishing three books for children, they are How to Become a Star, How to Become a Princess,and How to Become a Culinary Star in 7 Days. The singer is also the producer of her own brand. She owns the Angel-Lounge restaurant in the centre of Kyiv.
In 2008, Ani Lorak was selected to participate in 2008 Eurovision song contest in Belgrade. She sang the song "Shady Lady" in the second semifinal, winning a place in the final.In the finals she won the second place, being defeated by Dima Bilan of Russia, but she won the best artist award for her performance from the media.
