Do you procrastinate writing your articles? Do you postpone submitting them, because your don't have time or like to do that task?

With article marketing as well as any other project we postpone, we need to see the Good, The Bad and the Ugly. What are the payoffs of doing it? And what are the consequences of not doing it or doing it spasmodically? One thing to think about the payoffs that article marketing does for us--our book sales, other product sales, product development, and our client base. And to also think about the negatives when we aren't consistent with our marketing.

The Good of Article Marketing

Results. Results. Results.

  1. You want to be known as the "go to" person in your field. Think of Mrs. Field's chocolate chip cookies. Go into her stores, see the plate of cookie pieces, and get a delicious sample. Now, you know they are good enough to buy dozens of them. You'll get similar results when you educate your audience and give people quality, unique information they can use in building their business, or just improving their lives to put a smile on their face knowing they can have what they want in life. All of this with just a little help. When you mentor others through a book or your services, you really make a difference in the world in a positive way. With article writing and submissions, you demonstrate your knowledge and experience about your niche. You write to educate and become known as the expert in your field. This works equally as well writing a print or eBook.
  2. You want your article marketing to expand your book sales, other product sales, and your product development.
  3. You want to repurpose( recycle) an article into another format that expands your sales funnel. You can turn an article into a longer special report to give away at your site; post a shorter version in your blog; create a twitwall shorter version and tweet the link to your twitter people; create tip tweets for twitter from it; include it in an eBook chapter; even in a question and answer discussion piece for Linkedin, Facebook, and your own web copy.

The Bad when You Don't Finish Articles and Don't Submit Them

  1. You hold yourself back because you worry that your peers and audience won't think it's quality or good information. This is the fear so many people get stuck in. If you ask, "Is my fear real?, you may get that Cheshire cat grin on your face, because you know it's not true.
  2. You are a perfectionist. From some past belief, you edit way too many times that keeps you stuck. Know that it's not perfection your audience seeks from you, it's excellence and useful information they want and need. For you perfectionists, I advise you to do one imperfect thing each day. And to lighten up! Have fun with this as well as any other part of your business. Yes, if you take action, you will make mistakes, but all of us do. Why spend time on a small mistake when you can join the winners in the 5% Club? Wouldn't you like to get your own useful content out? No need to feel guilty about mistakes. When one is pointed out to you, you can simply correct your mistake and say thanks. Forgive yourself and keep moving forward.
  3. You don't have enough information to do a great job of article marketing. That's a common reason to procrastinate. But, you can do something about it. Read an article marketing book by someone who has done it successfully for many years. This is my 10th year using article marketing. Gurus often call me the Article Lady because they want a simpler way to market. It still serves me better than any other online promotion, because my audience wants samples of my book and article writing expertise. To start, I used other people's information, got mentors, and read books. I still research to keep up with all the changes and put these into my article marketing books, revised each two years.

The Ugly of Procrastinating in Article Marketing

From bad to ugly, it's really ugly to not good to not have a specific marketing plan for your specific work. With no plan, there's only sidestepping with confusing actions that don't yield results.

Vague goals equal vague results.

For fifteen years, I've know a talented guy who learned article marketing from me years ago. He stopped submitting them because he became overwhelmed. I wonder why? He keeps taking diverse seminars each month, and doesn't settle on one or two of his great talents. He doesn't put real time and effort into his promotion. He's on his fourth different Web site too. Always undercapitalized, he doesn't quite get them or anything else in his business successful. He's spread too thin.

Staying blocked is harder than doing the work.

Conquer Procrastination These 10 Ways:

  1. Know where you are now. To reach your desired outcomes of what's important to you, your must first know where you are now and where you want to be. Be specific. Paint a picture and share your emotions on it.
  2. Use Mental Rehearsal that Yields 85 % Success Rate. Instead of looking out to distance with goals for the future, claim your goal completed now. Imagine your 5 edited articles complete now. Write down what you see, hear and feel now.
For example, Now that my 5 articles are done now, I SEE emails coming to me asking questions about my business. I HEAR my clients say they were grateful for my useful information that made them successful. I FEEL confident now more clients will come and even enjoy article marketing.
  3. Keep your main goal in mind. To get important things done, you need to leave others undone. Remember when you say yes to one thing, you are saying no to another. Ask yourself, Is this really important in my life?
  4. Ask yourself these questions at the end of your work day: "Did I work on my main goal of writing a new article?" "Did I bypass interruptions to finish my priority fully?"
  5. Get your project started quickly.Make your decision and act on it. We waste too much time in the "paralysis of analysis." Instead, think "Get ready, fire, aim."
  6. Learn a fast-writing technique for your articles and your books to finish fast. Connect with a professional coach to show you how.
  7. Delegate parts of your article marketing or any project to a skilled, but inexpensive Virtual Assistant (VA). I've used them for 10 years. This helps me double my output of sharing my useful writing information for businesses people, and yields 10 times or more my investment in the VA.
  8. Take breaks. Every hour, cover your eyes with your palms, visualize figure 8's, and do some deep, belly breathing. Get out of your computer chair and ask yourself how you're doing?
  9. Use this $25,000 Time Management Solution. This fee was paid by Charles Schwab to the time management person with the best plan in three steps. First, do the most important thing first. Second, finish number one before you go on to number two. and Third, write down 3-5 High Level Activities (HLAs) such as your actual article titles or specific tasks. Let your unconscious work on these all night, so you can be fresh in the morning for action.
  10. Remind yourself of the payoffs. That includes creating the wealth you want so you can take that Caribbean vacation this year, or so you can help your children or grandchildren with college tuition.

So why be in the bad and ugly club. Remember your options. You can join the 5% Club right now.
