READ BEFORE YOU CONTINUE - It stands to reason, the BEST ADVICE is the advice we give and take ourselves. I say that from experience and here’s why. I’ve only been using the methods and information that you will find in this hub for a short time, but I have drastically watched my earnings increase. I know what it’s like to take my own advice. I also know what happens when I start to slack off on implementing any one of these valuable points. The increase begins to decrease! If you (and I) want to see a steady and continuous increase in traffic and earnings, it will take steady and continuous action and effort. If you decided (like me) that you’re up for the challenge – by all means PLEASE PROCEED!
ARTICLE WRITING WEBSITES
If you do any type of online writing, chances are you have already come across three very popular writers websites. Practically every freelance writer knows about earning money by writing for Hubpages, Constant Content and e-How. Writing articles for one or all of these profitable writer’s websites can earn you a nice tidy income. But that is only IF you are using them effectively.
Since article writing online has become so popular, there are a lot more writers, of various levels, all seeking to have their work published and read. Some may have no bigger motive than to know people are reading and enjoying their work. However, most article writers are seeking ways to increase earnings by getting paid to write. If you're someone that wants to know more about getting paid with your writing, please read on. If you are currently a freelance writer for one of the above sites and you want to drastically increase traffic and earnings, this information is especially for you.
This hub is not going to be a complete and detailed explanation for each of the writers sites mentioned. I have already written informative and detailed hubs about making money with Hubpages and making money with Constant Content. You can read them here:
I am currently working on a similar, hub to help with writing for e-How. It is entitled: Paid Writing: How To Write Quick and Easy e-How Articles, and it will be published soon. I’m still working on it because their sign up information for the Writer’s Compensation Program is not clear. I’m still monitoring and watching the dynamics of how things work over there. I don’t write for them as often as Hubpages and Constant Content so I’m not as familiar with them. I didn’t want to publish any erroneous information, so that hub is a work in progres
In
the meantime, 99% of the information found in this particular hub is relevant
to writing for all three sites. If you read and implement the suggestions and
tips found here, you will still be ahead of the game whenever you sign up and write
e-How articles. In my opinion, of the three writing webbsites mentioned here, writing for e-How is the easiest. The site is very user-friendly and the most informal of the three. Some writers appear to do extremely well writing and getting paid for e-How. I have yet to make anything worth mentioning with them, but only because I currently concentrate so little effort there.
Similarities In Article Writing Sites
Knowing the fundamental basics of any program you happen to write for is important. Most sites, like the three mentioned in this hub, have a similar sign up process and they typically use Paypal as a preferred payment method. When it comes to the process of writing and submitting work online, there are many similarities in article writing sites..
This information is written with the assumption that:
You have signed up at one (or more) of the writer’s websites in question and have become a member. You should have also signed up for a FREE Paypal Account, if you didn't already have one. Don't overlook the important step of joining their writer compensation program so you can also make money by referring other writers.
NOTE: All three websites will reward you for bringing in NEW writers AND referring articles written by existing members. The Hubpages and Constant Content information hubs (cited above and in the links below) discuss the writer’s compensation and referral programs more.
Reading and applying the information in the following 3 areas will help you to drastically increase your traffic and earnings. Please keep in mind, these are effective methods when writing online for profit, but they should be used with additional points from other articles. You have “5 Money Making Tips Most Hubbers Forget To Use” and “Why Constant Content Is A Legitimate Writing Gig. These hubs are great for reference material. I have also provided additional hub titles below that will prove to be helpful if you read and apply them. Most of the articles below were written by other resourceful hub writers. They are specific to whatever site you want to sign up and write for. The strategies and concepts you find here on this particular hub, however, will work, whether you write articles for Hubpages, Constant Content, e-How or any place else online.
The important concepts you find below all have a bearing on:
1) The way your information can be found online (accessibility)
2) How you are acquiring your readers (traffic)
3) The way readers view and react to your information (performance)
Omitting Important Parts Change How Things Work
To truly increase traffic to your articles and earn more money with your writing, you must realize a vital fact. Omitting important parts will change the way things work and the results won’t be the same. The important tips, hints and suggestions you read here AND in the related articles are intertwined and connected. The individual hub articles related to the corresponding writing sites were created to help increase residual income. This is especially so with “5 Money Making Tips Most Hubbers Forget To Use” and “Why Constant Content Is A Legitimate Writing Gig”. You can liken these crucial articles to cogs in a machine. They all work together to create a finely tuned instrument. If you neglect or omit any one of the important parts, your machine will NOT function the same. You will not be able to increase your traffic or earnings as drastically as you would if you include all the parts. You must keep this in mind if you want to optimize your writing performance and reach your maximum earning potential.
Cog Part: A
Increase Traffic: Introduce Yourself To The Community And Forums
No matter which site you are writing for, you cannot afford to take the community and its forums for granted. If you do, you will be cutting yourself out of a lot of potential earnings. You’ll also miss out in meeting some very friendly and helpful writers. A great way to increase traffic to your writing is to introduce yourself to the community and forums. Even though you may think it doesn’t help with “clicks” you should consider it part of your job as a writer to network. When you share your knowledge and encouragement with other writers, it comes back to you, and not just in karma. You will see your page impressions increase, and yes, even sometimes an increase in “clicks”. The online writers that are most paid all realize the value in reading comments, leaving comments and regular interacting with other members. Much of your success can comre from the support of the website’s writing community. The Hubpages and Constant Content information hubs discuss this point more.
Cog PART: B
Increase Your Earnings: Improve The Appearance Of Your Writing
The appearance of your online writing is important, even if you’re not submitting anything but text! As great as the information in your article may be, no one will feel like reading it, if it appears to be too long, too wordy, or just an eyesore to look at. To prevent this:
Use short to medium sized paragraphs with short concise sentences. This is more appealing to the eye than a looooooooong drawn out paragraph or sentence. It also says to the reader, “Yes, you have time to read AND digest this information right now”. Otherwise, they’ll decide to come back to the article (and never do!).
When you break up long blocks of text, it helps the reader’s eyes keep track of what they’re reading. It also allows them to return to their place if they have to go back over a particular point, then resume reading.
When you break up long sentences, you make it easier to understand the context and it helps the reader comprehend your point better.
The right photos and images can truly compliment your writing.
If the right image is used and properly positioned, it can be just the thing to drive the point home for your reader. On the other hand, images should not be added just for decoration, with no connection to the context of your article. This will only serve to defeat your purpose. Your readers will notice the image, but all they’ll be thinking is: “What does this picture have to do with anything?” If the image is related to the writing in a figurative way, you should use a caption or other way to specifically identify the photo's connection to the article. You don’t want your readers too busy looking at the image and trying to make the connection, when they should be reading your article! NOTE: Constant Content articles are completely submitted as text documents, to be purchased by waiting customers. This information about adding images does not apply to them.
Cog PART: C
INCREASE YOUR ARTICLE WRITING APPEAL!
You can introduce yourself to the community and forums and improve the appearance of your writing, but there’s one more important element. Writing appeal. It is crucial to increase the appeal of your writing if you want to make money and get paid on a regular basis.
The
reason for this is because the appeal of your writing is directly connected to
your bounce rate. If visitors find
there way to your writing, and don’t IMMEDIATELY like what they see or read how long do you think they’ll stick around? Not long!
“Bouncing” refers to
when visitors leave within seconds of viewing your material. Although there could be a variety of reasons
why visitors do this (some which have nothing to do with you or your writing),
most “bouncers” do it because they’re not satisfied with the overall
content. Obviously, since they leave
so quickly, they don’t really know what the content is, they only know the
appearance of what the article contained did not appeal to them.

Time can very easily get away from you when you work online and freelance writers can find themselves trying to reinvent the wheel. This is one of the reasons that I am announcing the Free friendship...
You can use catchy (but related) phrases, captions, images and creative introductions to grab and keep your readers attention. These are ways you can learn to control your bounce rate.
Here are a few additional tips that can help with improving your writing appeal
- Provide useful captions and subtopics that break up information and make it easy to zero in on specific points.
- Write with just the correct amount of animation for the subject matter. Simply stating information and facts in a boring, mechanical way is usually not enough to keep a reader’s attention. While you don’t want them to bounce, you also don’t want them to bail midway through the article either. That means you have to write with an interesting and appealing voice.
- Be consistent in the tone of the article. If you choose to take a more formal approach, use it consistently throughout the article. In contrast, if it is a lite and informal article, find a way to present facts and any statistics that you use (typically dull and boring), in a fun and interesting way.
- Do not abuse the power of your tags and keywords. Your readers will love you for providing the exact content that they were hoping for when they searched for your article. Even if they simply stumbled across the title of your article, your title conveyed a specific message that appealed to them. Don’t cheat or disappoint them by following through with an empty article, stuffed with nothing but keywords and no information!
Key To Keyword Headings
SPECIAL KEYWORD TIP: If you use the points in this hub as suggested, you will start to include subheadings in your writing. Try to make sure the keywords that are found in your subheadings specifically relate to: 1) The title of your article 2) The content in your article (specifically the paragraph it is attached to) and more importantly, to: 3) The Tags - because tags are important and should be in harmony with the article as a whole.
(Hubpages, Constant Content and e-How, all ask you to provide tags or keywords to help readers find articles when doing a search)

Oooh thanks for all the tips and the links. I found here just what I was looking for!
Good information.
Three hours ago, I checked my email and discovered that (due to the budget crisis in PA. affecting colleges) I won't be teaching English 100 this semister. That left me with a budget deficit of $700 for September and another $700 for October. With this doctorate degree, experience teaching writing, passion for researching and sharing information, faith that I can earn a substancial income using my gifts, and desire to make a positive impact upon the world---I MADE THE LEAP. What better place for a person to land than on the fertile ground of your cite? I can use all the information and support the writing comunity can provide to launch myself into the lucrative field of freelance writing. I am adding your cite to my favorites lists. Thanks.
Thamks for the info, it was very enlighten, I new here but hopefully will get the hang of it soon. Creativeone 59
