Ask.com is not the popular search engine, but has a search market of 1.5 to 5 percent of query. Ask also provides a search engine specifically for children with names AskKids aimed at children aged 6-12 years. AskKids has the appropriate friendly interface for the children, allowing users to write with a pencil, a highlighter and pen so that children can create things on the homepage. The search results on AskKids are filtered so it is safe for children. AskKids.com is a new format from previous kids search engine, Ask Jeeves.

Ask Kids is now known as kids search engine designed exclusively for young people ages 6 to 12. It's a free, safe, fun way for kids and their parents to quickly and easily research school topics like science, math, geography, language arts, and history in a search environment that's safer and more age-appropriate than traditional, adult search engines.

The design theme is built around a traditional school setting. Kids are so much more than school. The background design of notebook paper is not a great way to reach kids, who learn much better through visual and interactive approahches and are far more tech-savvy than traditional, old school (pun fully intended) educational methods.

However, the search results have ads taking up a good portion of the space. The same criticism can be made of the Ask.com page. Being user-friendly and not ad friendly almost always wins the day and it would be nice if Ask could figure out a more user-friendly way to make the moolah.
