Is the Asus Eee PC good for writers?
For people who write for a living and require portability, the Asus Eee PC may fit the bill. It's wonderful being able to write virtually anywhere. I even take it into the kitchen when I'm waiting on coffee to heat up...that's 90 seconds of work time per cup I'd of otherwise wasted.
I will cover the Asus Eee pros and cons soon , and after the initial infatuation more cons are evident, but it is noteworthy to suggest it makes a decent replacement for a notebook computer when you spend most of your time in Word or Open Office and researching the Net. It's inexpensive, small, easy and relatively bug-free...good combination.
The Asus Eee PC is even better when you add externals, such as a mouse, keyboard and monitor--at least for longterm use. But even without such, you can type for long periods if you have smallish hands and are not expecting the speed of touch typing.
Some will not like the placement of the Shift Key, and there is an easy fix for this and other issues in the quick tweak guide on eHow, "How to Optimize Your Asus Eee PC."
Bottom-Line: As a writing tool, I Love My Asus Eee PC -- most of the time.

Asus eee Games? Linux games made easy.
Better still if you have time for a little fun, you might want to check out "How to Add Games to the Asus Eee PC." If you're new to Linux, as I am, this offers a good starting point.
For some games you will want the Tweekee program referenced above in How to Tweak Your Asus Eee PC to clock the computer to its full potential. Note, that I said clock, not over-clock. The Asus default is set to 630 mzh even though it's a 900 mhz processor.
Asus eee PC Tip - Protect Your Keyboard
The Asus eee PC keyboard seems especially sensitive to liquids. Some users at teh asuseee forum as well as myself have noted it takes little to tick the keyboard off. I had keyboard problems from one little drop of coffee. Lesson: While the Asus eee PC is durable, they keyboard is a wimp. Protect it!

I'm not real happy with Asus eee PC e-mail support --I heard their support was good but it's been 2 days and no response. Guess I'll try the old-fashioned way and call. Oh, the problem? I have two USB ports going out. I'll be *lost* without my Asus eee 4G when it is in for repair.
