An MX chest protector, also at times called a roost protector, is an important piece of equipment to use when riding 4-wheelers. Chest protectors are most often worn over or under a coat to provide addictional crash protection to your chest, shoulders, and back. They are usually made out of bendable plastic, and use foam padding. If you ride off-road in rocky areas, are into motocross riding, or are just looking for additional protection, you should seriously think about getting a chest protector.

Chest protectors are manufactured in several differing styles, depending on the particular use. A basic chest protector, which is typically a foam or plastic pad worn on front of the torso, provides fairly minimal extra protection from flying debris from other riders. A more sophisticated chest protector may also have pads for the shoulders, pads for the elbow and back pads, giving complete chest protection. Some companies have modular chest protectors, giving you the ability to customize it to your liking.

motorcross Chest protectors come in a variety of styles and colors, even though they are designed for protection instead of appearances. If you want, you can wear your chest protector under your jacket if you don’t like the way it looks. It’s necessary to realize that your protection and not looks should be the main consideration.

The question is whether each rider should wear a motocross chest protector. Obviously, if you only use your 4-wheeler for working around the ranch, a chest protector probably is a bit excessive. Sport riders and racing enthusiasts are going to benefit the most from a chest protector. If you crash, a chest protector will greatly reduce the chance of injury, particularly those equipped with shoulder and elbow pads.

As is true with other apparel, thoroughly look over the quality of the design. When examining a chest protector, check where the straps connect to the plastic. Higher end chest protectors will actually rivet or sew the nylon straps right into the plastic. Look out for a well put together attachment. Also, consider the padding. How are they connected to the plastic? Is the plastic bendy, but sturdy, or does it appear to be fragile?

It is a good idea to correctly maintain a ATV chest protector. Cleaning them generally is simply a question of wiping them using a soft cloth. If they are covered in mud, using a hose with fresh water ought to expel heavy dirt plus avoid scratching. Be very careful when using chemicals. The plastic and foam can easily get damaged. Ordinary soap with water is always a safe way to clean your chest protectors.
