Before going out and looking around for game testing jobs there are a few things you might want to know first. Work as a video game tester is not as easy or as fun as it may sound. However, that is not to say that it can't fun a fun or rewarding career. Video game testing is a great way to break into the video game industry. A so-called "foot in the door" can be a great stepping stop to another video game career. Many game designers and programmers started as game testers. It is still important to go to college for these jobs. You can still work as a video game tester while going to college at the same time.
One of the first things you can do is participate in public beta tests for popular video games. This will allow you to become familiar with what a video game tester actually may do everyday. The great thing about beta testing games is that it can be done from home in your spare time. As a bonus, often you will be able to get the final version of the game for free or at a reduced price. You may also be able to work at home for some game testing jobs but it's not extremely common for this to happen, certainly not for a full time career. It is possible to find some part-time work at home testing games.

Hello all, I have no experience as a video game tester but do enjoy playing video games. I have been disabled for the past two years and desperately need something that I can do from my recliner at home. If anyone knows how to obtain one of these jobs I would be very greatful. Hello ppl. Im looking for a video game testing job as well. I saw a commercial on TV about this. I NEVER thought there was a job like this out here. Ive been playing video games since I was 4 years old. Send me an E-Mail for some info or something. I want to get in the gaming industry any way. You can participate in testing before 16 but not paid, unless it was under the table. and also it doesnt look like anyone actually is looking at companies for a job, instead you posted a message here like someone is going to GIVE it to you for free.so if you arent 16+, sucks for you, if you arent 18+, good luck, if you dont have any previous testing on your resume, good luck. Thats for a job that you get PAID, if you need something to put on your resume then get ready to do some free( read: you will not be paid) testing, and you are going to have to spend alotof time looking if you are 17- and your more likely to find Free testing jobs as a Temp( you arent an employe, just a temporary worker that has no reason to stay after the job is done). Also if you are here because a stupid commercial that makes it look like youre playing a gamein a comfy chair/chouch on a big screen eating pizza then think again, try a computer chair( basic), a 10- 19 inch screen, and the pizza remains, if you work in house. If you want a litle more info then call 818-451-9905, no I wont try to sell you any thing and please only call on the weekend. Also use my screen name so i know you arent some crazy guy calling for who knows what. :P

i just turned 18 2 days ago, and this is exactly what ive been wanting to do sense i was 11 years of age. i know you here people say ( oh ive been playing games for 8 years can i be a game tester? ) well i hate to say this about myself but i had quit school to play video games. i was so obsessed with Halo 1,2,3 World of warcraft, Call of duty, rainbow six, oblivion. ive won several tournaments on halo. and was actually first place on the most popular tournament site. called Gamebattles.com ever sense i was 6 and i was watching my grandpa play Zelda for the Nintendo i was SO fascinated with playing games. i started to play with him and we beat the game in 1month or so. i always had a STRONG passion for video games. the only reason im on my computer is because i was looking forward to becoming a gametester. i understand that u have to find and fix Bugs in the games, i honestly dnt get bored with video games at all. this might sound like im lying but i have no reason to lie. i love video games. and if im making money playing them. my life would be complete. yea maybe after a couple more years of playing these mmorpg, rpgs , and shooters. my eyes would sould start to hurt. but i recentley just got glasses. and ive been wearing them ever sense. i HONESTLY have the passion and the desire to have this job. i was put on this planet for this exact reason. i stay up around 2-3 in the morning playing video games. doesnt matter if its pc, or consoles. but if i had a choice i would say i play consoles a liitle bit more. someone, anyone if you read this message please help me out here. email is cameronthegamer@yahoo.com

How's it going ya? you know I really want to become a video game tester but I don't know where and how to apply and I want to do it the comfort of my own home ya cause I live in the country and I really don't want to spend 3+ hours on the highways cause I tend to get impatient and I just want to get a job/career that involves something I love to do on my spare time and that's playing video games but I get very bored and I'm going to be graduating and I really want to get an opening where I get to stay home and get paid for doing what I love to do as well as many others in north america.
