A Review of the Avon Income Opportunity
65A Review of the Avon Income Opportunity
Are you looking to work from home and heard that Avon was a great and easy way to make money? Avon is a great company and has some great products to sell. It seems to be very popular because every other day I have a new Avon catalog hanging from my door. There is a lot of competition with Avon. It is a company that has been around a long time and is a network marketing company. An Avon sales representative will make more money if she is able to recruit me to her business. Then she will make a portion off of everything that I sell. The more sales she has including the volume in her down line; she will make more and I will be doing all the work.
Each month, you will have a certain quota to meet in order to earn your commissions on your sales. As mentioned before, the more you sell, the more commission you will make.
Avon is a huge commitment and is not as easy as it looks. You don’t just have customers calling you for product. You will on the other hand, be making flyers, passing them out to your district, which has been assigned to you. You will then have to purchase samples, cards, bags, and everything else an Avon customer expects from their sales rep.
The reason I know this is because I sold Avon for over a year. The first month I did great, had a lot of support from my supervisor, I was excited and calling all my family and friends to let them know I was selling Avon and to please order something to help me get started.
It was downhill from there, less sales, but a lot more work. You have to go to weekly meetings where they will get you all excited to go out and sell again, and give prizes to the rep with the highest sales total. There you are encouraged to buy the new line of something that is going to be the main feature in the next catalog. So you are investing more money over time than you are actually making. I had a storeroom that was so filled with Avon products that I ended up having a yard sale just to get some of my money back. I was selling the products below my wholesale because I needed the money. I couldn’t afford to sell Avon any longer. I wondered how the other reps seemed to do it. But as I got to know them, I realized that they were in the same position that I was in.
I can’t explain what the reasons are, but there is something that we, the sales reps are not told, are not able to create that success that you see the top people able to achieve. They seem to flaunt the small 10% of those that succeed, whether it is because they are investing thousands of their own money and therefore earning the accolade of achievement, I’m just not sure. But they don’t let you know of the other 90% who are struggling and trying to figure out exactly what I have explained. How are they doing it? Why can’t I do this successfully? What am I doing wrong? Avon shouldn’t be this difficult to make money with.
I just think, through the entire network marketing sales programs I have tried, that none of them work. I thought Avon would be different, but it wasn’t. I have continued to gravitate towards network marketing because I had small children at home and I was trying to earn some extra money without having to leave them. But time and time again, I failed, but not by sitting doing nothing, because I worked very hard. I just can’t explain what it is. But there is a way to find out.

Means we are delivering carp to our customers, and they are returning it. Avon does everything they can to keep us from returning product, including threats of removing "instant credit." So much work and losses for a false promise of 20% commission (the overseas carp made in China is only 20% earnings for Avon ladies, for real!) We more often lose money than make money on the items with a diamond cluster next to the name (see an Avon brochure.)
Avon doesn't appreciate it's sales force.
This review is very negative towards the networking business. This is August 2009 and as far as Avon are concerned, in the UK, they seem to have everything going for them. Orders arrive on time, any mistakes are corrected efficiently and if you get off your butt and put the brochures out & collect them in, you can earn a good income.
All businesses have a downside ~ nothing is perfect, but if you enjoy meeting people and getting out and about, the Avon should suit you. Training new members has its own rewards ~ it's satisfying to train up a new rep and see her/him start to earn a good commission whilst you also earn a percentage of their sales.
Don't let the any problems spoil your day but deal with them politely and efficiently and your business will grow.Any business, no matter how small, has irritating problems and changing to another company just exposes you to a new set of problems to face.
Avon opportunity is good if you let it be so. Enjoy.
I have a strong comment

AVON is downsizing and relocating manufacturing plants to countries with cheap labor. How will this affect the current force of 5 million plus AVON Representatives?
