How to play a B chord on the guitar

If you're just starting out in guitar you're probably wondering where the B chord guitar chart is? I mean all the free guitar lessons out there run through how to play an A,C,D,E,F and G chords but pretty much all of them miss out on the B chord! Go figure.

It's generally because the B chord needs to be played as a barre chord and they don't want to teach you it just yet... sneaky aren't they?

Well it's actually pretty simple to play a B chord, you just place your index finger over the second fret, pushing down on all the strings except the top one... then place your third finger over all but the top two strings on the fourth fret. Now strum from the D string (3rd from the top) down to the B string (second to the bottom). You've just strummed a B chord guitar maestro!

When I say the top I mean the strings closest to your nose.

But wait on a minute!

There's another way to play the B Chord on the Guitar.

Well on the E string if you count up the frets the notes go like this: F (thats when you have your finger on the first fret)

Then it's F#, G, G#, A (we're on the 5th fret for A), then it's A# and then B! We're on the 7th fret for out B root note.

So you can just bar the 7th fret from top to bottom then place your 2nd finger on the G string (3rd from bottom) and you're 3rd finger on the A string (2nd from top) and finally you're pinky on the D string (3rd from top)...

You're now forming a B Guitar Chord!

Ok, so in the first one I'm showing you how to play the B chord on the guitar in its 1st position, this is the one I mentioned before where you only strum 4 out of the 6 strings.

The second B Chord Guitar Chart is where you can make a B Chord on the 7th fret of the top string (closest your nose)
