Here are some of the biggest abs training mistakes to avoid:

1. Focusing too much on abs exercises

I can understand that if you want a six pack, you would want to do as much abs exercises as possible, but if your tummy is hidden by fat, you will never see your hard work. This is why you have to include cardio and weight training exercises as well. Another tip is to exercise all the different muscles of the abs (the obliques, and your upper and lower abs) - check out the following link for info about the seated row, which is a great exercise for your upper body.

2. Not weight training

If your goal is to lose body fat and to gain a six pack, then weight training should be your number one best friend. When you start weight training, be sure to include muscles from your whole body, as this will boost your metabolism the most. This should include your lower body, upper body and abs. Aim to get 3 weight training workouts in a week.

Don't overdo it!

3. Doing too much or only cardio

Doing too much cardio puts you at risk of burning away your muscles for energy. If you want to get flat abs, your muscles are very important. Having muscles will increase your metabolism, which will have you burning calories - even in your sleep. If you stick to about 20 minutes of cardio a day, you will still be in the safe zone, where you won't risk your muscle mass.

Just remember to watch what you eat, as diet is 80% the influencer on how you look. But if you eat healthy, exercise regularly and stay motivated, then you will surely get the flat abs of your dreams.
