From the Tower of Babel to False Religions in the End Time
70The Tower of Babel was erected to Glorify Man and his Religion
The People were Unified in the False Religion of Humanism
"Now the whole earth had one language and one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there. Then they said to one another, "Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly." They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar. And they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth." (Genesis 11:1-4)
At one time the human race had one common language of communication. The people had complete unity of purpose and determination to achieve two main things.
- 1. Build a city and a tower to reach heaven.
- 2. Make a name for themselves
This tower is symbolic of man's rejection of the Creator God, and indicative of his striving for human achievement. This is the basic foundation of false religion of humanism.
Archaeologists believe this Ancient Ziggurut in Iraq to be the Base of the Tower of Babel
The Tower of Babel was built for the Purpose of Astrology
Archaeological studies revealed the ancient Babylonians had built pyramid-like structures called Zigguruts for the purpose of observing the planets in motion. The Tower of Babel was built for astrological purposes. "The earliest known astrological records date back to Babylon in 1645 BC, and the earliest horoscope to 410 BC. Astrology's origins can also be traced to several other locations and cultures, including Egypt, which developed sophisticated timekeeping and calendar science; Greece, where Ptolemy authored influential astrological and astronomical texts; and Rome, where many of the most learned men-including two emperors-were astrologers who wrote laws and counseled citizens based on the Stars."
Astrology is strongly condemned by the One True God
Astrology is not to be confused with astronomy which is the science that studies the size, movement, and composition of celestial bodies. Astrology, on the other hand, has no scientific basis and it claims that stars and other heavenly bodies influence human personality and activity, and that the position of celestial bodies at a given time can foretell future events in the lives of people.
The Bible specifically denounces astrology as occultism.
"Stand now with your enchantments and the multitude of your sorceries, in which you have labored from your youth - perhaps you will be able to profit, perhaps you will prevail. You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels; Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, and the monthly prognosticators stand up and save you from what shall come upon you. Behold, they shall be as stubble, the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame. " (Isaiah 47:12-14)
God spoke through His prophet Isaiah concerning the astrologers.
- Not only can astrologers not save you by their advice - they cannot even save themselves.
- The fire shall burn them - in other words they are headed for judgment.
- The counsel of astrologers has a wearying effect on those who trust them - it wears them out.
It is interesting to note that astrology is linked here to sorcery and enchantment. According to the plain teaching of the Bible, these things are in the devil's domain and ultimately you will receive nothing but a curse when you go to the devil for help and advice.
Many passages of Scripture denounce occult practices that seek guidance or knowledge through sources other than the God of the Bible (e.g., Deut. 18:9-14 and Lev. 19:31, 20:6). The word from God is definitive: the practice of astrology and other mystic activity is wrong, and Christians cannot believe and participate in astrology.
The Tower of Babel and the New Age Movement
The Ancient Babylonians practiced a Religion that revolved around the idea of becoming a god. They also built the Tower of Babel so as to attempt to bring the entire world into a unity against the God of Heaven- a "World Order", so to speak. This Religion of Ancient Babylon has been kept alive by various groups all the way through history, and even to our modern times. Today it goes under the name of the New Age Movement, or the New World Order, and it is permeating our entire Society, including the Christian World.
The Religion of the Ancient Babylonians encouraged a rebellious spirit against the Law of God, a blatant disregard for His Commandments. Today the New Age Movement is spreading all over the world, and it involves again a hatred for both the Law of God and the Atonement of Christ. Is it any wonder then that the Three Angel's of Revelation are calling the whole World back to the keeping of the Commandments and the Faith of Jesus, and that a terrible warning message is given to those who refuse?
The Bible forecasts a great period of rebellion against the God of Heaven and a worldwide Religious Apostasy, during which time the nations of Earth will confederate themselves into a One World Political and Religious System. There will be frightening changes in our Society. We are living in momentous times!
In Astrology the Zodiac symbol of Aquarius depicts a man who pours out water from a jar. This signifies that according to New Age Thought, all of the Religious knowledge of Mankind throughout the Ages would be taken up into the jar and then blended together and poured back out upon the World. This event would happen when it was the "Dawning of the Age of Aquarius". This is to be an Era of Unity, Love and Religious Brotherhood among Humanity. The underlying idea of the New Age is one of ecumenism, a One World Global Society.
Core Beliefs of the New Age Movement are derived from Ancient Babylon
The "new age/new spirituality" movement is a loose collection of many things that have pagan roots. This modern pagan movement is nothing more than ancient paganism put in a new package. The polytheistic religious of the East and those in "new age/new spirituality" beliefs and witchcraft all have a common root source in ancient Babylon and they share the common polytheist and/or pantheist beliefs of the mystery religion that began at Babylon. Most "new age" leaders have now rejected the term "new age" they call themselves part of the "new spirituality" movement. However, be assured, no matter how much they deny being "new age" this "new spirituality" is still "new age" doctrine and Babylonian paganism with a refined title. The "new spirituality" movement is a more refined pagan movement for those who rejected certain practices that were identified with the "new age" movement. This "new spirituality" concept or movement is the latest effort to make polytheistic and pantheistic beliefs acceptable to the mainstream public.
There are a few core beliefs that unites all the various forms of modern paganism but there are many common themes.
The "new age" or "new spirituality" in a nutshell:
- We are all powerful spirit beings
- We pre-existed before our present lives on earth
- Reincarnation
- The human species will evolve into its Christ consciousness or God state
- God is a force, everyone and everything is part of this creative force
- Because God is in everything, our collective thoughts create reality
- The mother earth is part of the force and she is a living entity
- If the abuse of mother earth continues she will have to defend herself with severe natural upheavals
- We must reduce our population and eliminate all the negative thinking people (Monotheistic fundamentalism) by education or removal
- Some in the "new age" believe that our parent species are alien life forms. They say these aliens planted us here sometime in the past and that they are due to return. This belief will set the world up for the great deception

Enjoyed the hub. In response to Agro Donkey:
Hebrews 1:1 God who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; The Tower of Babel was preChrist.
The prophet Moses revealed this important story to us and many others all pointing to the coming law. Later, the prophet Jeremiah said,
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Therefore, when Jesus came he fulfilled ALL the prophets of the Old Testament as they pointed toward Him. When the fulfillment of the Scriptures came they pointed toward Jesus, and John said in John 1:1 that the Word was God and God was the Word through Jesus.
Jesus established the church and now He speaks to us through His church, which is his new Body on the earth.
God still speaks to us and can intervene anyway he chooses but for the most part He chooses Jesus as preached by His church.
I hope this helps.
I am good, you are bad.
My religionis goo, your religion is false.
obey my religiion or go to hell.
These kind of statement throws back humanity atleast 2000 years back.
I pity you guys who just believe in a book.
The Book that you mention is the Word of God. Christianity is not about good and bad. It is about the Person Jesus Christ who is God manifested in the flesh, who came to save mankind from sin, destruction, death and hell.
Arkwriter
Great Hub Arkwriter - I have a couple people in mind whom I will be sharing it with!
I understood your point about ecumenism but for clarification purposes, perhaps you could add that ecumenism is a good thing when it comes to unity in the Body of Christ, regardless of a denominational, if any, affilitation.
And btw, I'm glad this left Agro donkey w/more questions that he had prior to reading this hub....to question and seek truth is a good thing.
Wow that was great teaching arkwriter, I was also very amazed by the video. There is surly some hard times that lie ahead but as the kingdom of this world advances so does the kingdom of God. There is such power in unity and the tower of Babel, with the new age movement is just one example. The devil and his demons are unified in purpose and the damage is clearly seen in all walks of life government, education, family, business, entertainment, media and yes religion. (Division in the Church) It's time God's people come together in unity (John 17:20-23). God has a plan it's called a Unified body of Christ! With God on our side the church is the greatest force in the world. Jesus Christ and all that he stands for must be the focus. With a unified body there must be a distinction between what a Christian is, and anyone who does not profess Jesus Christ as there Lord and Savoir is not on our side! Please join me in this pursuit in any way you can!!!
Some may say that the doctrine of revelation is lost and all is said and done as though God were dead, but I say God speaks continually.
I can't believe the ignorance of the opening of this page. Oh wait, yes I can. Notice how the rest of the story of the tower of babel was conveniently left out? It's a typical trick used in every church. Tell part of a story then jump to another book altogether. It keeps you from thinking about why something would be that way. To finish the story in a nutshell, god basically says if we were to accomplish this we would be like unto gods ourselves. So he knocks down the tower, makes us all look and speak differently, have different systems of beliefs and from that point on we've been at each others. Therefore god is the author of racism and hate. And if he was so omnipotent why would he fear a little competition in the first place? Sounds like fear to me. But hold on.....isn't fear a natural reaction for something that posses mortality? Sounds like your fairytale diety can be killed. It's obvious that he is our enemy. Why do you think he split our species up in the first place? Here's an idea: So that when he comes in "glory" to deliver his proverbial can of whup-ass on us, we will be too busy fighting amongst ouselves and then it will be too late to fight back. And you servants of a weak tyrant are only making things worse. It's time for humanity to fight back. No longer must we be servants. No more slavery. It is time for us to become masters of our own destiny. Stop fearing an invisible hand that shakes its finger at you from 2000 years ago saying "do it, and i'll fucking spank you". The only reason most people choose to believe in a god in the first place is because they want to believe that there is justice and order in the universe because the average human mind is too weak or cowardly to stare into the face of chaos without snapping. And my final shitstorm to leave you assholes with: As far as your end times crap is concerned, history has been chock full of horror, war, famine, hate, brutality, every couple hundred years another generation grasps tenaciously to an archaic and obsolete set of beliefs and rules because the ones that realize that they can capitalize on your fears are doing just that. Oh look, a brothel. God's a'comin'. Oh look, a war. Look out! Oh crap, science and logic. That must mean the anti-christ is here! Religion is a business. And to you asshole christians that say "it's not a religion, it's a relationship" that's nothing more than a religious mantra. Wake up, stand up, and say I WILL NOT SERVE! And don't worry. nothing will happen, beacause nothing is actually there to harm you. You are now welcome to cast off your religious shackles and stop living in fear. You're gonna die, get over it.
As a teacher of Comparative Religion, I feel I must remind you that as you seem to condemn Paganism, you need to look back to a time much earlier than the birth of Christ and study the story of Osiris. He too was born of a virgin, performed many "miracles" such as raising the dead, walking on water, etc.He was a teacher in the temple at age 12, disappeared for eighteen years, was baptized upon his return in the river Jordan by a man whose name translates to John (his baptizer was later beheaded as well), and he was crucified and rose on the third day. Quite curious in content, especially since it was recorded long before the birth of Christ.
Having taught Egyptian art and mythology at the collegiate level, I invite Dr. Joshua Arkaine to expand the realm of his references. There are a multitude of myths regarding Isis's brother and husband Osiris who was killed by his brother who envied him and then scattered his body along the Nile. Horus killed Osiris by suffocating him in a box. It looks like you have added quite a bit of flavor to the myths which in fact, are nothing like the life of Christ. Osiris left his sister-wife to rule Egypt and she did a much better job than did Osiris, and he was never perpetuated to be born of a virgin, since he had two brothers (Horus and Seth) and two sisters (Isis and Nephthys) all born consecutively within a five day span, as the myth goes. They would have ALL had to been born of a virgin, but Nut's wife was not a virgin, they tried to concieve but could not for many years. Nice twist you added.
The only thing that arose after his death was his stories. And with educators such as yourself giving the myth life and legs, it's no wonder our education system is lacking.
Re himself would flog you. :)
Wow. I just hold to the Bible. It bothers me some books were removed from our Bible (i.e. Enoch and Jasher, which are both referenced in the Bible ~ and why do Catholics have additional books ~ the Apocrypha). Anyhow, the Bible prophesies that many will not be able to enter the kingdom of heaven, and that not all will be saved. It's sad to see this before our eyes; the hardness of hearts, the blinded eyes; the humanism.
The tower of Babel represents a world that all communicated as one. Only because we now have translators for every language of the world, we are in for the one-world government and thus a one-world leader ~~ he will claim to be God, meeting the deceptive desires of the "worldly" religions, but true monotheistic Judeo-Christians will not conform.
I praise God that the truth wins in the end, but am burdened for the world in the meantime. It's truly saddening.

The only thing that I've never understood about the tower of bable is why didn't God destroy our space program? or the empire state building? I just don't why doesn't He speak with anyone anymore. It's like after the New Testimante He just said I've done enough. I don't think that He wants us to fail but eveything is so unclear anymore. We can't know what the Bible realy means because of all the translations and changes that have been made. The Bible says not to change, delete, or add to anything but the King James Version has. I don't know what is true and what has been added by the church. You have a very well written hub but it leaves me with more questions than I had to begin with.
