Is Your Baby Crying ?

Some moms have said that when they became comfortable with baby crying, baby seems to calm down more. Sometimes it can get really frustrating. Is baby trying to tell you that his HUNGRY, COLD, THIRSTY, BOARD or is he just looking for a CUDDLE? Don’t worry too much, as time goes by you will get to know babe’s different cries and will know what he/she needs.

Reasons why babies cry

1. Baby might be sick.

2. Baby has a nappy rash

3. Your baby is hungry

4. Your baby is thirsty. Sometimes baby just want to drink some water.

5. Baby is getting to hot or too cold

6. Baby is feeling uncomfortable because of a dirty diaper.

7. Baby is tired or over stimulated.

8. Baby is just irritable

9. Studies have show that crying is a developmental process all babies need to go through

10. Baby is board

11. Your baby is teething. Get your baby a teething ring or some teething gell.

12. Colic!

What can you try if you think your baby has colic?

- Colic drops

- gripe water

- Infant massage

- Try burping baby more often

Does your baby clench his fists allot?…this is the first sign of a colic baby. Baby formula can be changed to another brand, or if you breastfeed you can start watching the foods that you eat. You might be casing gassiness in baby.


13. Your baby actually feels your mood. If your re depressed anxious or angry your baby will pick it up and feel the tension.

14. Your baby has ear ache. Watch baby, if he grabs or tugs at his ear allot then he most probably has an ear infection.

15. Baby is being hurt. He might be caught up in something without you knowing about it. For example a label on his shirt might be scratching him.

How to calm baby.

- Baby massage

- Swaddling

- Holding and cuddling

- White noise like switching on a vacuum or turning on the tap (running water)

If you are at the end of your rope

1. Count till 100, take deep breaths

2. Get help. Call a friend or family member and get them to give you a break for a few hours.

3. Remember that this is only a phase and it will not last too long. It actually goes by quite quickly.
