Back Pain Relief
63Back Pain Relief
When you suffer from back pain, each moment can feel like an eternity; medical science is still some way from discovering a back pain relief remedy that will work for everyone. Pain relief is possible with the medications available but that is all they do and the reason for the pain continues. Many people with spinal problems become addicted to the medication that relieves the back pain but this should really be the responsibility of a doctor.
The problem with the back is although it is strong, at the same time it is easily damaged; spinal injury is one of the most common conditions around the world and even sitting incorrectly can create a long term problem. Of course the most common way to injure your spine is by lifting heavy weights or lifting them incorrectly. There are a number of natural back pain relief methods that mean you will not have to rely on drugs.
Stretching can be effective at reducing back as it relaxes the muscles which are often tense. Reflexology, an ancient type of alternative medical treatment, uses the concept that areas of the body have corresponding regions on the feet that can benefit from massage; it has found to be successful at treating people with long term conditions. Often to compensate for our pain, the back muscles over compensate. Reflexology can help provide relief by improving the circulation which in turn relaxes these hard worked muscles.
The traditional Chinese medicine therapy acupuncture is now providing back pain relief with people suffering spinal problems in the West. The Chinese believe all humans have an energy force that flows through us called qi which is affected by our health. Although the chi can become blocked, it can be released by using thin needles inserted into various points on the body. There are large numbers of people that use acupuncture on a regular basis and claim it works well for them providing pain relief; especially those who have what is termed a chronic condition.
Relief can also come from another Chinese treatment like tai chi which is a form of yoga but not so strenuous. Tai Chi focuses on breathing techniques and is a great way to relax your back. Whilst it involves some stretching and breathing exercises it is not too strenuous which means that anyone, young or old can take part in Tai Chi. A good preventative form of back pain relief is to actually exercise more regularly; it would be a shame to forget the benefits that exercise can provide generally.
