Has a few bad decisions or unfortunate circumstances keeping you from buying the types of things that make your life more fulfilling and happy? That doesn't have to be the case, as there are businesses out there that cater to people with just those types of bad credit problems.

Most the time we're told we can't buy anything if we don't have credit, but businesses set up to serve you are ready to provide you with good furniture, televisions, computers, stereo systems, among a number of other needed or desired products.

Usually these businesses will include in their name something like "rent this" or something of that nature. Or they'll include it in the company description.

Buy Major Products even with Bad Credit

Prepare First

Before you go off getting yourself into more credit trouble though, take inventory of what you can really afford to spend before taking the plunge.

Look at what you have left over after paying your monthly bills and needs, and leave yourself some cushion because of unforeseen circumstances.

Check Out Terms Carefully

Now that you're armed with that info, find out from the stores what types of plans they offer. This is important because all of them will offer weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or in some cases customize payments for others; for example, this is done sometimes for military personel because of the way they're paid.

What you're looking for here is how much it'll cost you over the term of the loan no matter how inexpensive it seems on your payment schedule.

I've seen some people that took really low weekly payments over a long period of time, and ended up paying literally several thousand more dollars over the period of the payment schedule.

To get a desired item, some people are willing to pay somewhat more, but the point is to understand that you are, and not just take what seems to be the best deal short term, but is very expensive over the long term.

While it's always least expensive to go with a monthly payout schedule, some people don't like to do that, so just keep in mind the overall cost of your item before signing the contract.

Check for Low Price Guarantees

One other thing to consider, some of these companies also include low price guarantees, so make sure you check out any deals out there when you're ready to buy, as it could save you a lot of money over the long run.

Just be sure it's the same model and brand, as it must be comparing apples with apples, and not something that is a different brand but similar.

Maintain Discipline

You need to understand when you go to a store like this, that they know that the majority of people buying from them will eventually stop paying on their merchandise and will have to return it.

Why? They go to the store unprepared and see all the product candy which they end up buying more of than that they wanted to to begin with.

So instead of maintaining discipline and staying within their budgets, people do the same thing that brought them bad credit and buy more than they can really afford.

I've seen people have to return almost their entire household of major appliances, furniture and electronics because they bought so much because it was easy and required no credit.

Must Have An Income Source

One thing that is required by these companies is that you have a form of income. It doesn't matter what type of income, but they will check out your income source, so be honest with what it is upfront, as that's the only obstacle in your way from getting your merchandise.

Will Be Asked for Down Payment

Finally, while it won't be much, there will be some type of down payment asked for. This is somewhat of a formality, as I've seen about everyone that says they can't afford the full amount, negotiate it down to close to nothing.

While that will add to the amount you pay, it will at least get the merchandise in your house. Just be sure you're able to afford the extra payment price and costs if you do that.

Don't Let Bad Credit Stop You

Like I said, bad credit isn't an issue, and nothing is ever checked in any way by these rent-to-own stores as part of the decision-making process.

The key to successfully obtaining products you really want is to prepare before hand and know the parameters you're working with.

From there it's a matter of maintaining discipline while you're going through the steps you need to take to get your stuff.

So there you have it, a proven way hundreds of thousands of people with poor credit are able to get the type of products they want without having to wait for years to get them.
