Battlestar Galactica is a 1978 television series that has been remade into a 2004 miniseries, as well as an ensuing Sci Fi Channel television series. The plot revolves around the remaining members of the human race after the cylons, a race of man-made robots, rebelled and wipe out most of the human population. The show chronicles the ongoing war between the humans and cylons. The show has gained incredible critical acclaim as well as several awards. It was ranked #7 in Time Magazine’s best television shows of 2006.

The cast features Edward James Olmos as William Adama and Jamie Bamber as his son Lee “Apollo” Adama. The cast also includes Mary McDonnell, Katee Sackhoff, James Callis, Tricia Helfer, and Grace Park.

Richard Hatch, who played Apollo in the original series, has a small recurring role as former criminal-turned-politician Tom Zarek.

The biggest change from the original series is with the cylons. The cylons now have the ability to create “skin jobs,” which are cylons that are made to look and act like humans. This vastly changes the dynamic of the show, as now everyone must live in fear knowing that anyone around them can be a cylon.

The third season just wrapped up with a phenomenal finale that revealed four main characters as four of the “final five” cylons, as well as another person that’s in question.

However, we’ll have to wait until December to catch any more human-cylon antics, and even longer than that to see what happens in the main storyline. Battlestar Galactica season four is set to debut in early 2008, while a direct-to-video movie will air in the fourth quarter of 2007. This movie will not focus on the current main storyline of the show, but rather about the Battlestar Pegasus, another ship that was featured earlier in the series.

Here’s a hilarious gag reel from season 3. However, if you haven’t finished the season, there’s a huge spoiler!
