More and more folks are being prescribed this drug to combat their anxiety attacks and depression! Do we know what the Trazadone side effects are?

I have a girlfriend that has been changed from the drug Citalopram to Trazadone. This is how I got to know about this anxiety medication. I am so worried for her… she is just battling a never ending battle against depression and do get these horrible anxiety attacks that just takes over her entire life.

She gets these symptoms when she is having an anxiety attack:

• not able to breathe,
• feeling dizzy or like if you are going to pass out,
  
• heart starts palpitating very fast
  
• and she says that at times it feels like she is dying.

The latest anxiety remedy that the doctor has prescribed her is supposedly the best anxiety medication. Trazodone also known as Desyrel. Trazodone is a a mild antidepressant with calming properties. After my research, I am not sure that this is the best anxiety treatment for her.

I am worried when we the regular folks have to be taking these different anxiety drugs or depression drugs in order to be able to function properly. I am not sure that all these anxiety remedies are the right course of action for many people who is suffering from anxiety panic disorders.

Note that I am writing from my research, reading and personal review and NOT from a professional medical viewpoint. I am not a doctor. All I am trying to do here is to give you my best honest opinion about these so called anxiety drugs that ought to cure the disease and doesn’t.

Furthermore did you know that there are some side effects that you should really know about before allowing the Doctor to prescribe them to you… Let me tell you that I am worried that all these anxiety medications helps in one area (mental health) but then affects other areas of our body. Trazadone side effects are real and needs to be looked after closely.

Trazodone side effects are nausea, dizziness, insomnia, agitation, tiredness, fuzzy vision, and disorientation. Is that a very nice list of side effects or what? And actually there are more side effects when taking Trazodone and they are: orthostatic hypotension, arrhythmias and priapism need to be closely monitored. Just google for the term priapism and you will find out what I am so adamant.

Now, biopsychiatry.com - http://biopsychiatry.com/trazodone.htm - also says that “In terms of therapeutic efficacy, trazodone appears to confer little advantage over other available antidepressants.”

So, why prescribe this drug to folks that are trying to eliminate anxiety attacks. We need and my girlfriend needs all the anxiety help we can get… in my review, Trazadone side effects are just too many, too complex and it brings very little to the table to even bother with it...

Meds-Help.com - http://www.meds-help.com/trazodone/ - says that “Children younger than 18 years of age should not normally take trazodone. If your child's doctor has prescribed trazodone for your child, you should watch his or her behavior very carefully, especially at the beginning of treatment and any time his or her dose is increased or decreased.”

Emedexpert.com - http://www.emedexpert.com/compare-meds/amitriptyline.shtml  -  says that “trazodone are both effective but not statistically different from each other in terms of antidepressant action. Trazodone is superior to amitriptyline in the treatment of neurotic depression.”

I ask one more time, and for my girlfriend’s benefit, Why take this drug? Why doctors are is prescribing it?

My two cents: find a natural herbal solution. Find something that will not be addictive. I advised my girlfriend to gravitate towards something that will work fast and will not damage her system. There are many herbal remedies but I am giving my advice to try a new herbal formulation called Gabatrol.

You see Gabatrol is a herbal non addictive natural solution. It is also an all natural solution that effectively gives you relief from the feelings of STRESS and ANXIETY. This to me sounds like the best anxiety remedy.  There are many other natural remedies such as St John’s Wort. You will need to try and see if your body reacts positive to the herbal treatment.

I do not know about you but I rather try this then fill up my body with anxiety meds.

In advising my girlfriend about Gabatrol, I told her that that Gabatrol works by normalizing chemicals in the brain just like the ingredients in wine or chocolate. I do not know about you but when I eat chocolate, my mood tends to become better and it also gives me a boost on my energy. I am not a wine drinker but I have been told that a glass of wine right after work relaxes you and changes your into a better mood.

Other natural anxiety remedies that are simple yet effective are acupuncture, breathing exercises, and many more. But, for my girlfriend that maybe have tried most of these, I think that a natural herbal anxiety remedy is the best advice.

As for Trazodone side effects…. Not worth it.
