When it comes to choosing accessories for your beach wedding think not of simply accessorizing to make or break your beach wedding dress, but consider your beach wedding accessories as your protection from the outdoor elements.

Sunglasses, parasols and even large and small hats can form part of the trendy brides beach wedding attire.

If you want a splash of color but don't want to wear a canary yellow wedding dress, then you could introduce color to your wedding attire in the form of accessories.Do keep in mind that there are some unseen accessories to consider, like the garter.

THE GARTER

The popularity of the garter dates back to old English tradition of the the groom tossing the garter at the rowdy guests, each were eager to own a piece of the brides undergarment. This was supposed to bring luck and good fortune to the one who caught it. Today however they still cause the same amount of excitement!

Bridal garters are available satin and lace and are usually embellished in crystals, pearls, or even little charms.

If you are one to believe in tradition then you are surely spoilt for choice choosing a garter!

SOMETHING BLUE

Another old English tradition is the rhyme of "something borrowed, something blue" should be worn on a wedding day.The borrowed item is supposed to transfer the happiness from a happily married woman to the new bride, while the blue symbolizes purity.

Although you may be surrounded by the blue of the ocean on your beach wedding day,here's how to incorporate blue into your beach wedding attire;

  • flowers
  • jewelry
  • shoes
  • a purse

less conspicuous options are concealed in;

  • garter
  • underwear( definitely not borrowed..but blue)
  • a handkerchief carried in your purse

BAGS AND PURSES

You don't necessarily have to walk down the isle carrying a bag but it can come in handy during the reception, since you will need to touch up lipstick and maybe even need your mobile phone.

GLOVES

Are an elegant accessory to complete most dress styles but isn't appropriate for the beach.You want to keep your attire minimal. The last thing you need is sweaty palms.

Traditional long veils may not be appropriate but you can substitute shorter options like the 'birdcage' lace or net held by a satin band or perhaps just pinned into the hair..

Alternatively you can opt for casual elegance with a flower or embellished tiara or keep it basic by spreading a few flowers into loosely braided hair.

DON'T FORGET TO TOP THE CAKE

There are two show stoppers at every wedding.The bride and the cake.While you may have accessorized yourself perfectly don't forget about the cake.

Cake toppings can go along way to rising any cake. There are several alternatives to the traditional plain couple toppers.There are options out there to suite all tastes and budgets, even your sense of humor.

You could opt for a sea themed topper, if you have a sea themed beach wedding or a personal statement with your own monogram. What ever you choose sure you do top the cake.
