Want to become an affiliate?

Hi! My name is Tracy, I'm a wife, and mom of a very naughty one year old boy...I started affiliate marketing exactly a year ago after he was born. I've learnt many things since then...to tell you the truth, I never had a clue where to start or what to do to make money online...I made the mistake of purchasing two money making schemes, which both failed. In the end I had to find the answer to making money online on my own. So now you are probably wondering...how much do you make?? Okay...I started in January 2008...by February 2008 I made my first sale! After another month I had made R2000! (204.50 USD) for the last two months November to December I have been making a sale almost every day! So I decided that I would like to share my success...try and help other people do the same...especially a stay at home mom because I know what it feels like to want to stay at home with your kids!

Okay now for some bad news! ;-( Affiliate marketing is not a quick fix...it takes time...patience and perseverance. I only started seeing my sales come in after I had 100 Ads out there. I now have just under 700 Ads running.

It is where you promote someone else's product or service in return for a commission. These commissions vary in value from $1 to over $300 depending on the product or service you are promoting. People make $100 000,00+ a year doing this. An awesome example of somebody who is the best at this is Ewen Chia. Ewen makes well over that amount by simply referring people to various products and services.

It is always a good idea to obtain various points of view in any business so that you can look at it from every vantage point. This is very important. I personally read this book before I did even one Ad.The Successful Affiliates Guide I suggest you pick up a copy for yourself, this was very helpful to me and my business online.

1. Your affiliate program - This is the company that has the directory of products that you will be selling...and they will be paying you as well.

The affiliate company that I use is Click Bank...just because I like keeping all my sales in one place but you can join more that one affiliate company. Here are some companies you can join (for free):

2. Advertising - Where are you going to place your Ads?

Personally I prefer USFreeads (premium version) to any other Classified site...my reasons being:
1. Great exposure - a good ad can get up to 1000 views within a month
2. They are automatically renewed before they expire
3. They look good - Has an HTML editor
4. Only costs about $9 per month - which I make up for with just one of my sales made!

One example of a site that receives a massive amount of traffic, but also allows you to post classified ads for free is craigslist. As long as you post classified ads in the proper section, you can do it completely free of charge. The most prominent social network is myspace which boasts a membership base of over a hundred million. And you can post free classifieds with them too!

The main groups are Google Groups, and Yahoo Groups. Once you are a member you can post your as to other members of the group for free. When I started out I joined enough groups to where I could post my ad to nearly 100,000 people, for FREE!

3. Basic HTML

What is HTML?

HTML is the language used to create Web pages, it is the format of files published on the World Wide Web. With HTML you can change an ordinary doc into a page with color, different fonts, pictures can be added, videos, spaces, centring of text etc.

You need to get to know basic HTML or at least have a reference to it in order to fix any problems you might have when placing your ads - e.g.: maybe just removing some extra HTML that shouldn't be there etc.

4. Importance of good Keywords and how to get them

The headings of your ads are most important - if you want people to find your ad you need to have a heading that has low competition with a high search rate!

You can use these keywords as headings for your ads or incorporate them into your ads to attract more traffic.

If your Ad doesn't look good...or doesn't attract attention its not going to bring in any sales. You want your ad to follow the A.I.D.A marketing approach. What does this stand for? It stands for Attention, Interest, Desire and Action.

Things that will make your Ads more successful:

1. Make sure that your Ad looks allot like the website that they will be sent to, so that the customer is not confused.
2. Bullet points are great - they attract attention
3. Pictures where possible also attract attention - most of my sales come from ads with pictures.
4. Do not only use one boring font size and colour throughout your ad - who will want to read that!?
5. Read through the website that you are promoting - take out all the important info that you think will interest the customer the most, and use this info for your ad.
6. Use words like "cheap," "free," "proven," and "shocking" to draw attention to your ad.
7. Good heading to your Ad - Google the heading that you want to use, if it has fewer than 100, 000 competition it will get you a good amount of views.
