Protein
If you have always wished to obtain that six-pack abdomen or rippling muscles, then protein supplements can be your answer. Completely natural, these supplements can help you achieve accelerated results within a short time span. These especially work well if you don't have much time at hand and want to achieve a certain look.
Whey: nature's gift
Protein is undoubtedly one of the most vital ingredients to building muscle. Most muscle building diet plans will focus on less carbohydrates and more protein intake. Our bodies are naturally not capable of producing amino acids - which are essential to build muscle. Thus by consuming protein supplements you can obtain valuable amino acids. One of the best sources of protein is whey protein powder. Whey is obtained as a side product from cheese making and is found in liquid form. Research has found that whey contains a high concentration of amino acids which are absolutely essential to aid in healthy muscle building.
All natural remedy
If you prefer natural methods of muscle gain, then whey protein powder is the best alternative. It encourages the body to increase in stamina and overall strength while also aiding in the production of creatine - which helps in boosting muscle strength. As compared to most other supplements, protein supplements are absorbed much faster by the body. Also when you compared whey protein to other forms of protein (like vegetables, meat or soy), a small quantity of whey has been found to contain much higher concentrations of protein. So even if you consume a small quantity of whey protein powder it might just be enough for the whole day!
Protein sans fat!
One of the good things about protein supplements is that they provide high concentrations of amino acids into our bodies - without adding to the fat content! Thus if you were to take soy milk or cottage cheese you would find that these also come with high fat doses. That's one reason why such protein bars and supplements are preferred for all sporting and athletic pursuits. These are also widely used in conjunction with strength training and weight management sessions.
Word of caution
While whey protein powder is great and easy to consume, it can be bad for people who are lactose intolerant. Since it is a by-product of the cheese making process, if you cannot tolerate milk or its by-products then whey protein is not for you! But the good news is that whey protein can be easily combined with a homemade drink of your choice. You could choose to have a fruit juice or a milkshake and add a quantity of whey protein powder into the drink! If you don't have the time to make a drink, why not consider buying protein bars? These are convenient, easy to carry and can give you a much needed protein boost when you require it! Nowadays you get plenty of flavours and varieties of such protein bars. You could even get a little adventurous by adding such bars into your meals!

Very good and informative. There is something that when people talk about the benefits of protein that always gets left out. One very important benefit of protein is that it is needed very much by people on dialysis. During dialysis treatment protein is drawn off like oil draining from your car while changing it. Protein is vastly needed by all dialysis patience. Just a tid bit of info.
Great hub! Very informative and educational. To add some info on protein supplements, I believe that the best type is the Whey Protein Isolate. It is recommennded that you take it prior to workouts. Protein supplementation is very important to properly recover the muscles after heavy duty exercise. You should take it in moderation because too much is not good for the liver.
