best sit-coms of all-time.
60Wow! When I think back over my years of television watching, I have to say I have seen some pretty good sitcoms in my day. I've seen them in rerun after rerun and I've seen some originals come through. Below I will give you a rundown of my 15 favorite sitcoms of all time. If you have missed any of these, try to catch them for a good laugh any day of the week.
Not in order of favoritism:
1. Chico and the Man - probably one of my all time favorites. Freddie Prince, Sr. and Jack Albertson as a Hispanic man from the hood and the racist old garage owner who loved him. Della Reese joined the cast later on.
2. The Addams Family - Our kids know the movies, but we got the real deal! Lurch, Morticia, and the whole clan made up for a laugh a minute. And what better way to learn about electricity, wild animals, and botany. (hahahaha)
3. Bewitched - The more normal Samantha tried to be, the more trouble she got into. And having a mother like Endora didn't help a bit (no matter how much I loved her :).
4. The Jeffersons - Who could forget the back and forth wit between George and Florence? And Mother Jefferson was a beast. Poor Weezy.
5. Taxi - Two words: Louie and Latka!
6. Good Times - Welcome to the hood, circa 1970's, where food stamps were still paper, the projects were a world apart, and Janet Jackson was just a baby.
7. The Beverly Hillbillies - You can take Granny out of the country, but you couldn't get the country out of Granny. Now, how bout some vittles?
8. The Golden Girls - I couldn't get enough of Blanche and Sofia. Bea Arthur and Betty White are pretty funny in anything.
9. Will and Grace - Finally, a sitcom with real characters that represented the real world - and hysterical to boot. Jack rocks, Karen is crazy and the whole show is just plain great.
10. Dharma and Greg - Underrated. I loved Dharma's free spirited character matched with Greg's ultra-conservative one. They also had a great cast of veteran actors in supporting roles who played their parts to perfection.
11. Married with Children - I thought it was crude and shed a terrible light on family values. And it was some of the funniest stuff I ever saw. Make me wonder if I'm going to the bad place because I laughed so much.
12. Bosom Buddies - Tom Hanks (yes, the Tom Hanks) in drag, Wait till you see the legs ladies!
13. Coach - Hayden was always in trouble with someone - the team, his daughter or his girl. And watching him suffer was the funniest thing about this show...or maybe it was watching him trying to fix it.
14. Reba - Here again, we have a funny twist on what real people go through every day. Reba handles it with style (and a sarcastic toungue).
15. Roseanne - Okay, so she didn't have a lot of style. Or class. Or even the cleanest house. But she what she did have made up for a lot. And her kids were true to the reality.
Okay, so that's my list. I could probably find 20 or 30 more because sitcoms go back to the 1920's when Amos and Andy could be heard on the radio. Since that time, hundreds if not thousands of worthy shows have come and gone. I tend to like the ones that deal with people in the real world or in real world situations. The era doesn't really matter, just that it was relevant for it's time. And some of them, I hope you'll agree, are just plain timeless.

You and I have many sit-com favorites in common! I think I'd add at least two more to the list: I Love Lucy and I Dream of Jeanie. :) Great hub! Welcome, by the way! :) Enjoyed reading this very much! Thumbs up to you!
