The Best Stop Smoking Programs

Without the use of any stop smoking programs, 95% of quitters fail, meaning only 5% succeed. So it's smart to get some help. Like dieting, there's not a single weight-loss program that will be appropriate for every person. We have researched and reviewed the most common and alternative stop smoking programs, discovering some surprising results. We encourage you to further investigate the resources and plans below to find the plan that will work ideally for you and start you on your way to a smoke-free life.

"But I've tried a lot of 'stop smoking programs' and they don't work!"

No doubt, you may have tried to quit smoking before, maybe even numerous times. You undoubtedly initially tried to stop smoking on your own and found that you just weren't able to stop for good. Also, you may have tried one or more of the "mainstream" plans and found those to be only slightly better. Does that mean you are out of options? Absolutely not! Below, we'll review the usual methods used to stop smoking, then reveal to you some alternative stop smoking programs that are actually helping people to quit smoking for good and change their lives.

Mainstream Stop Smoking Programs

Here's a brief review of the most common stop smoking programs:

Prescription Anti-Depressant Zyban - A recent, large study undertaken by the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine demonstrated an initial failure rate for those using Zyban to stop smoking of over 60%! That's just the initial failure rate. After 12 months, the failure rate was 70%! And actually that's the "good" news!

Here's the bad news. While it's correct that antidepressants can provide some benefits, some have had a worsening of depression/other symptoms, including suicidal thoughts/attempts. The following side effects are also associated with Zyban: feeling restless, anxious, dry mouth, incomplete or infrequent bowel movements, dizzy, chronic trouble sleeping, excessive sweating, involuntary quivering, loss of appetite, weight loss, feel like throwing up, throwing up, stomach cramps, ringing in the ears, high blood pressure, painful periods, itching, hives, rash, headache, gas, hepatitis caused by drugs, joint pain, cannot focus thoughts, hallucination, feeling faint, seizures, chest pain, abnormal liver functions test, confused, delusions, paranoia, blurred vision, throat irritation, "change of life" signs, muscle pain, drowsiness, fever, taste problems, temporary redness of face and neck, heart throbbing or pounding, diarrhea, frequent urination, nervous, feeling weak, and false sense of well-being.

Do you really want to risk further endangering your health by taking a prescription medicine that was produced to treat depression?

Nicotine Replacement Therapy - As one can understand, substituting one nicotine delivery system (smoking) with other nicotine delivery systems (gum, patches, inhaler) still leaves one craving nicotine. It is no wonder the above-mentioned study revealed that after 12 months Nicotine Replacement Therapy had a failure rate of over 85%! That's an even worse record than Zyban, and you're still putting the addictive poison in your body that you are trying to wean yourself off!

In-Patient Clinics - The venerable Mayo Clinic offers its Nicotine Dependence Center, including a very pricey in-patient system for quitting smoking. With locations in Arizona, Minnesota and Florida, this is perhaps the Rolls Royce of stop smoking programs. Another in-patient program is offered at St. Helena Hospital in Northern California's Napa Valley. You check in for a week, but it's not cheap, either! These clinics do have a slightly better track record than Zyban and Nicotine Replacement, and are without a doubt a healthier option, but a very expensive one that still has a failure rate of well over 50%.

"Aren't there ANY Stop Smoking Programs out there that I can afford, aren't a threat to my health, and ACTUALLY WORK?"

YES!
