Bhargavi, the half sari girl in the film Asta Chamma who ruled the hearts of many has committed suicide 16 Dec 2008 morning along with her husband. The death is surrounded in mystery as too early to say if her husband have killed her and later consumed poison.
The reasons for her suicide are not known but many assume that some family strife would be the cause. She also acted in many TV serials earlier. Ammamma.com on MAA TV made by Gunnam Ganga Raju has brought her fame.
Before Bhargavi, there were several film actress who faced early deaths. Like Divya Bharati who died at a very tendered age. Divya Bharati started her career when she was 16 years old in the Telugu movie Bobbili Raja in 1990. Then moved to Bollywood and also married Sajid Nadiadwala Hindi film producer. She died by slipping out of a window of her husband’s fifth floor flat in Mumbai on the morning of 5 April 1993. Her death was surrounded by mysteries. Some believed that she too much about the underworld of Mumbai and hence killed!
Another name that come my mind is Silk Smita – was very popular South Indian movie actress. Though she had done some very memorable character roles including the one in the movie called MOONDRAM PIRAI which was remade as SADMA in Hindi. But she became popular through her glamorous roles. She has done some bold roles and was popular because of her sexy item numbers. She was from a poor family from Andhra Pradesh, born in 2 December 1960. She was found dead in Chennai on Sept 1996 after she tried to become film producer and run into financial troubles.
More recently Telugu Movies actress S. Pratyusha was found death in suspicious manner in Hyderabad in February 2002. She was killed by her boyfriend Siddharth Reddy who tried committing suicide after killing her. But he was saved, but sentenced to five years of jail for murder of the actress.
