The Biggest Looser

The Biggest Looser airs on Tuesday nights between 7p and 9p central time on NBC. I am new to the fan base of the show I started watching last season. The show is awesome it actually shows people heavier than or as heavy as I am losing weight. Up until tonight, there were multiple teams of two but now there are only two teams Blue and black. The biggest looser television program employs two dynamic trainers Bob and Jillian. Jillian is more like a drill sergeant in the military. It’s a wonder that someone hasn’t taken a shot at her. Jillian has had every winner of the biggest looser program since it first airs. I guess that would make her the New England Patriots of the early part of this decade. Bob is more like your best buddy but he can get you to do more through different techniques. If I had to choose between the two of those exercise trainers I would choose Bob. I was in the army and don’t need another drill instructor screaming at me. I believe they both care about their team.

The Biggest Looser 10/13/09

Tonight onecontestant got to choose which players would be on which teams. Tracey won the competition to decide which players go on which teams. Tracey has won every other competition to date on this year’s version of The Biggest Looser. You can’t blame the girl though she wants to win. Someone needs to tell her that she needs people to be on her side and not vote her off. Tracey split people apart placing them on different teams and making enemies or potential enemies of them.

The way the competition on the Biggest Looser goes is try to lose as much weight as possible. The Biggest Looser trainers Bob and Jillian work their teams to the point of near exhaustion. In fact, tonight one of Bob’s team actually fainted. The weight loss is based on total percentage of weight loss not how many pounds are lost. I feel this is a fair way of rating people. It doesn’t punish the people that don’t way as much as the bigger people do. In this competition tonight, it was between two teams the team with the lowest combined weight loss by percentage had to eliminate one of their members.

Mo the coach fell on his sword to save his former partner Tracey. The rest of the team prior to coach Mo's announcement had decided to send Tracey home. Tracey either doesn't know or suspect this is going on. In a vote by all members of the team Coach Mo got his wish and was sent home

10/20 installment

Tonight’s installment 10/20/09 of the biggest loser was a very interesting one. Both the blue and black teams went home. Everyone had to confront his or her own demons. Would the changes that have been made over the past weeks at the Biggest Loser ranch be able to stick or would they revert to their old forms. It’s very different trying to eat the right things and avoid the bad. Drag your body out of your own bed and make it work out. There are many distractions also called love ones not to mention moms home cooking. The contestants or maybe I should call them players have been broke into two teams the black trained by Jillian and the blue trained by Bob.

The black team trained by Jillian. They were chosen by Tracey last week Danny, Daniel, Dina, Amanda, Shay and Abby. Tracey decided that separating partners and keeping her partnership alive with Mo would get her ahead in this game. Tracey has been playing since before day one. She has managed to stir everyone up and get them all turned against her.

The blue team trained by Bob also picked by Tracey Allen, Tracey, Liz, Rebecca, Rudy and coach Mo. Tracey believed she had stacked the deck in her favor. In the first show down between teams, the blue team destroyed the black team. Not so fast Tracey handpicked team faltered and lost. One of black was sent home coach Mo.

Tonight in a rematch would Tracey terrifics come through or would the bad news black team win against all odds. Blue got off to a very early lead and held onto it and the black team chipped away. Danny was at the scale and hit a grand slam he lost double-digit weight loss. He seemed very surprised and then noted he had found his self again and was so happy to be getting back to the man he wanted to be. It’s time for Daniel to weigh into this. Daniel is a veteran of the Biggest Loser stage he was on last year’s version. It looked as the the black team was going to steal another weigh in and send the blue Goliath home. Everyone got quiet you could hear a pin drop I know because I dropped one just to see. Then a gasp hard-hitting Daniel failed to deliver as Goliath pelted blue David. Daniel gained one pound.

The brown team dazed and bewildered were told they had to come back and vote someone off the ranch. They talked and talked most of Daniels teammates comforted him some said he should go because this was his second time on the show and he had the lowest weight loss. Brown ultimately decided to send Dina packing. I was one of those that thought Daniel was toast. Daniel is a good guy so it’s good television to keep him around. I really wanted to see Dina jump up on that step.

Later in the at home footage I got to see just that. She is doing well at home. Watch out Jillian and Bob Dina’s little boy is whipping his mom into shape.

Predition made 10/24 for the upcoming show

I have developed a theory. Tracey is essential for this version of the Biggest Loser to be interesting. Think about it two weeks ago when the blue team lost. Liz was all but guaranteeing that Tracey was heading home. I think Tracey is the person that everyone loves to hate. You have to hand it to her she didn’t get just some people upset with her she got everyone upset with her. Not to mention the trainers I wonder how Bob really feels about her. Let’s face it as long as Tracey is on the show it keeps things stirred up. I don’t think Tracey realizes what she has done or how close she has come to being sent home.

I have a prediction for the upcoming weeks show. I think the black team will win the weigh off and the blue team will have to send someone home. I don’t think it will be Tracey. Better yet, it will be one of those competitions where if the whole group loses a certain amount of weight no one gets home. In any event, I don’t see Tracey going home she is needed to keep the show going.

Update 10/27

My prediction was off ,Tracey didn’t get sent home. In the first challenge to decide, which team controlled which player would go head to head in a weigh off. The blue team one but not by much Daniel of the black team just couldn’t pull off the win. Blue team decided which of their members would compete against which of the black team. This in theory would give them a huge advantage. Remember Tracey handpicked the blue team to destroy the black team. The blue team has done well only losing one challenge and having to send one of their members home.

Blue team trained by Bob used the swimming pool for much of their training this week. There was a lot of splish splashin going on that’s for sure. Black team trained by Jillian continued to use the gym as Jillian pushed her team to near exhaustion. Jillian has a very in your face training posture. It must work for her every winner of the Biggest Loser has come from her team.

There was another challenge this one would give the winning team a two pound advantage in the upcoming weigh off. Two pounds can be huge. The challenge took place in a baseball field. The two teams competed to see how many baseballs they could throw into life like photos of the contestants upon entering the Biggest Loser ranch. Each player wore on the back of their shirt how many pounds they had lost since they got to the Biggest Loser ranch. In order to eliminate rival teams players three hundred and sixteen balls had to be thrown into their basket. This number because it’s the lifetime batting average for Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees. Black team had the better strategy and the better arms as they picked off the strongest of the blue team first. Black team won the two-pound advantage and it seemed to even the playing field so to speak for the weigh in.

Black team chooses to use the two-pound advantage on one person. Blue team won the challenge and blacks had to send one of their own home. Daniel had another subpar performance and looked like the odds of favorite to be sent home. Abby decided that she has found herself and was happy. She requested that she went home sparing Daniel. Everyone but Abby and Danny voted for Abby. Danny who had immunity thought Daniel should go home. I can’t say I disagree but ultimately Abby got her wish and was sent home.

Update 11/3/09

11/3/09 update on the Biggest Loser. The Biggest loser was sit this week in Washington DC. The blue and black teams are no more. The players are now on their own. Tracey had built the blue team to dominate and it did winning all but the very first immunity challenge. Many in her team were upset with her by the way she choose the team. She split up every partner except her own with Coach Mo. I believe that Tracey will have a huge bull’s eye on her back.

The players took part in a four-phase immunity round tonight. With players being eliminated as they go. Tracey the strategist was eliminated from the immunity competition during the first heat. The final four to compete were Rudy, Rebecca, Liz and Daniel. Liz exercised her earlier one prize of sitting out a challenge and continuing to the next challenge. She didn’t have to take part in the penny challenge. This had the players racing up and down the step of the Washington Memorial. Rudy won the competition. The next challenge the players had to balance on a small piece of wood about the size of a 2 by 4. While balancing on that they had to hold a balance ball above their head. The top two went on to a head-to-head showdown for immunity. Daniel was the first to fall. Leaving just three Rudy, Liz and Rebecca. Rudy was having trouble balancing but Rebecca and Liz seemed to be going along nicely. When Liz lost her balance. Giving Rebecca a chance to win immunity against Rudy. Goliath against David or Davidia in this case lol.

This competition was stepping 206 times the total number on contestants to play on the Biggest Loser. It would seem that Rudy had everything going in his favor. Rebecca was doomed but a funny thing happened on the way to doomville. Rebecca’s heart showed through and she won against overwhelming odds.

Rebecca weighed first and lost some weight but her name was taken off because of her immunity win. Daniel finally had a breakthrough as he came up with a double-digit weight loss. Finally, it came down to two people fell below the yellow line. Tracey had the worse weight loss by percentage of any of the players. Liz joined her below the yellow line. Remember Liz said right after Tracey had made the teams that she was unhappy with her and going to vote her off. Tracey and Liz being below the yellow line was ironic. Liz could not vote her off. The first four people wrote to eliminate Tracey. Tracey strategy backfired and she went down in a trail of fire. Tracey had a breakthrough with her training and I think she will be fine. Tracey actually went back to where the show first started running a mile that same mile that landed her in the hospital. This time Tracey ran, the mile in just over eleven minutes go ahead Tracey.

11/10/09 Update

This was to say the least a very interesting and entertaining edition of the Biggest Loser. First off, the players were informed that two people would be going home tonight. This was different because as you remember one person is the norm. The person with the lowest percentage of weight loss would drop below the red line. That person would leave immediately after being determined. Then the two remaining lowest percentage of weight loss would be in jeopardy of being sent home like the normal elimination process.

This development proved to be an empowering incentive to pull out all the stops and keep yourself above the yellow line and in this case the red line. As with the normal schedule of the Biggest Loser, there would be a reward competition. The winner would get a one-pound advantage. This reward could prove to be all that stands between a player staying and going home. The competition was to take fifty tennis balls and place in your container the first person to do so would win. That person was Allen.

The eight remaining players began to form alliances with Rudy, Allen, Danny and Liz being one team and the other team featuring Daniel, Rebecca. Amanda and Shay. The older players against the younger players. The trainers and the Biggest Losers decided they had to have more training more workouts more ways to lose the weight. Jillian announced that she thought other people would be fine if they left the ranch but she tabbed Shay as being one that needed extra workouts. Jillian played her bad cop routine to the hilt getting in Shay facing and trying to get all she could get out of her. One thing I had noticed the players this year seems to quit more often and walk out of the Gym.

The immunity challenge came down to the players jumping through hoops. As the players hoop was jumped through one hundered times they were eliminated. Before the challenge, stated Rudy and Shay made an agreement that neither of them would jump through the others hoop until they were the last ones left. The two shook hands on it and as the challenge winded down. Rudy broke the deal and began running through Shays hoop even thought there were three people left. Rudy, Shay and Danny. Both of the elders joined forces and began jumping through Shays hoop. In my opinion, this was no class move by Rudy. On the other hand in was sound strategy and of course this is a game that is why I refer to the contestants as players. Rudy won the immunity and was not going to go home this week.

Liz is starting to get on my bad side I hoped that she would drop below the red or yellow lines and get voted off. With the weigh off looming, the younger folks got together and brought some equipment up to Shays room to get extra workouts in. Unfortunately, for them this back fired as Daniel dropped below the red line and was sent home right then and there. Amanda and Shay both fell below the yellow line. This was heart breaking for Shay who had just shattered a Biggest Loser record for fastest to lose one hundred pounds by a female. She dropped 17 pounds this week. Allen had to use the one pound advantage he received earlier to beat Shay.

Shay was voted off and Rudy was the last person to cast a vote to break the tie and he voted to send Shay home. As a game player Rudy did the right thing as a fellow human being, he did horrible things tonight.

UPDATE 11/17

In tonights addition the players got to have a make over and get all dressed up in new clothes. The clothes were a lot smaller than the ones they normally wear. These players clean up nice as it turns out and they were suprised by their families.

Rudy is starting to become my least favorite player. He is in full game play mode. The two players that were up for elmination tonight were Liz and Rebecca. I so wanted to see Liz go home I am so tried of her but Rebecca was the one that was sent home . Rudy cast the vote that shipped her home.Rebecca promptly went home an ran a half marthon that over thirteen miles. In a suprise move she announced on the the Jay Leno show that her and Daniel were seeing each other. That makes two possible love connnections this season

Update 11/24

One show left five players left. The elders that are made up of Allen Liz Rudy and Danny against Amanda Americas choice to be on the show this year. The elder alliance appear to be in full control of the game. This week there were no immunity up for grabs no weight guarantees just hard nose weight loss. The challenge tonight were to see how quickly you could place footballs weighted with how much weight each player lost. The would also be tethered to a weight of the total amount lost at the ranch they would be pulling that weight behind them as they placed the weighted footballs on the yardline markers. The first one to finish would win two tickets to Miami for the Pro Bowil. Allen won this challenge rather easily with Danny pulling up the rear.

On to the weigh ins Rudy had a chance to set a record for most weigh loss on the ranch and Danny had a chance to set a record for most consecutive weight loss totals of double digit. I have noticed in past seasons when players would break a record shortly there after they would be sent home. This year seems to be different Rudy has breaken a couple records and is still in the game

Rudy during the weigh in did break the record for most weight loss on the ranch. Rudy is not my favorite and in some cases he annoys me but I have to take my hat out he is an amazing weight loss machine. Danny also lost double digit pounds and breaks that record. Rudy and Danny both stayed above the yellow line. Allen had fair number but was just above Liz who had fallen below the yellow line for more times than I can count. Amanda was the last to weigh in and she had to lose enough weight to stay above the yellow line.Let us face it if she fell below the yellow line then she would be sent home no doubt in my mind. Amanda lost enough weight to stay above the yellow line sending Liz and Allen to elmination round. The votes were split and Amanda had the deciding vote I so wanted her to send Liz home but in my estimation Amanda made a horrible choice and voted Allen out of the game. Allen is a class act I hope he does well.
