Bicycle Rally!
60Bicycle Rally!
I did it! I biked 25 miles! Maybe this is no great feat for most people but for me it was a great accomplishment. The Bike Rally was organized by Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge Georgia. This organization helps abused and disabled children. http://www.camptwinlakes.org/ What a tremendous Rally! They collected over $144,000 in donations!
There were 4 distances available to riders. The distances were 100 miles, 50 miles, 25 miles, and 5 miles. I chose the 25 mile distance not knowing whether I would make it since I am a novice at this. But I figured I could go at least 5 miles. As it turned out I did go the 25 miles and it was really a fun ride. Of course I set no speed records. After doing this ride I'm hooked! I want to go on another.
It was really beautiful country and I recommend Rutledge, Georgia to anyone looking for a nice country setting to ride in.
We have an exchange student living with us (Fanny) from France, so I invited her along to keep me company and to encourage me along. We had a great time and I was sorry the ride came to an end. Fanny road a Jamis Coda Comp and I road a Specialized Sirrus. I had purchased these from the Washington DC police. These proved to be really great bikes! We made it in about three hours. No it wasn't a record but for a first ride it was a great time. I can't wait for the next ride.
If anyone knows of any clubs around the Atlanta area please email me and let me know of any tours going on
