Blackberry 8830 Cyclone
The Blackberry 8830 - Cyclone - makes it's debut as the first Blackberry CDMA phone that also has the GSM networks! If your job involves world travel, you really need this phone!
No matter where in the world you travel you'll still be able to keep in touch with this phone! And, it automatically detects and switches networks when needed! The 8830's voice coverage spans 157 countries and the email capabilities function in 62 countries!
The keyboard is a bit of a disappointment, it's a full 35 key QWERTY pad, but the keys are a little to crowded together. There's no space between the keys making it a little awkward to use.
A 2.5 inch TFT screen illuminates up to 65,000 colors, the resolution is really good and it has back lighting for the screen and key pad that automatically adjusts depending on the light source!
The sensitivity of the 4-way track ball can be adjusted to suit each user's needs. There's 64 MB of memory, but there's a expandable memory slot for a microSD Card, so more space can be added if needed.
The Cyclone is also a multimedia device, it comes with a music player that supports multiple formats. You can play your video clips and even view photos and text documents, but you can't alter them. And, this phone isn't equipped with a camera.
The support of the EV-DO network keeps you connected to high speed internet access. It also has the added feature of wireless Bluetooth 2.0, but the Bluetooth headsets won't work with this model! There's a mini usb port and also a 2.5 mm headphone jack allowing you to use your favorite headset.
The Cyclone isn't at all short on features, it will no doubt be very popular in the business world, but maybe not so popular to most other users!
The Cyclone still rates a "9" in my humble opinion.
