When you finally decide to tie the nuptial knot, and you want a unique and personal style of your own, why not  incorporate elements of the past into your wedding?

Why not make antique wedding veils your choice after your final consideration, which of course is now the popular choice; of having a vintage inspired wedding theme.

This is an opportunity to mix the old with the new. To blend and twist traditions from the past into something that is stylish, and of the present.

ADD A VINTAGE TOUCH TO YOUR WEDDING WEARING ANTIQUE WEDDING VEILS

Adding some vintage style with your chosen wedding gown, and the use of antique wedding veils is a fantastic way to look beautiful and elegant without losing personal style or looking like a typical bride.

To use vintage elements, you don't necessarily need to recreate a period costume or even stick to a particular decade.  You can mine the beauty of styles gone by and mix the old with the modern.

Naturally as the US and Europe began to merge different cultures into their societies, wedding headgear became open for interpretation, so integrating styles and customs of the old with the new, will make your wedding ceremony become an elaborate affair.

THE SLINKY AND SULTRY LOOK OF THE ANTIQUE WEDDING ENSEMBLE

You must desire a sultry and glamorous look to have some interest in going antique on your wedding day.

Nothing today beats the glamour and chic of the past decades, especially  the fashion of the 1920's to the 1940's.

If you need some great ideas to spark you up, you can start off by watching old movies, looking at old books, or finding photos online from these eras.

Some periods, such as the 1920s and 1930s, are much more suited to a sultry, slinky look and other eras, such as the 1950s and 1960s, are more suited to a playful look.

THE 1920's CAP VEILS

I'm sure there are styles from different eras you like, so go ahead, don't be shy about combining them. Only think about what you're comfortable in, and what looks good on you.

The top notch antique wedding veils of the 1920's was the Cloche or Cap veils. They fit over  the entire head and then fell gracefully over the shoulders.

Cloche hats best accompany the chemise or tube dress of the 20's, tea length and worn with opaque stockings.

They were made from the finest Brussels lace, but mostly made from net backed laces, which were decorated with satin, or sometimes, velvet ribbon, and wax blossoms at the ears, with the veil having rounded corners.

There were also styles that fell beyond the shoulder, and onto the floor, with little or no body.

VINTAGE WEDDING THEME

THE ROARING 20's ANTIQUE WEDDING VEILS

In the Roaring 20's, antique wedding veils became more and more elaborate in contrast to the simplistic appearance of the rather loose cut sexy wedding gowns of the period.

Veils became yards of silk tulle that was often photographed in a graceful gather at the Bride's feet. Bride's veil became rectangular cut, perfectly matching the lack of waistline typically associated with gowns of this decade.

Hi Debora, thank you for your visit. Lovely veil it is. Got your mail. many of these vintage or antique pieces are rare to find and are usually stumbled upon at vintage shops, garage or estate sales.

However the good thing is that you can always have them custom made for you using a heavy off white or champagne lacework material that almost looks like crochet work, with tiny flower motifs or appliques and pearls settings.

It will be your own unique piece.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
