Blue Heron Farm(s) One For Obama, One For Joe Public

You're going to be reading a lot about "Blue Heron Farm." But, don't make the mistake this writer did when I researched Blue Heron Farm. There is more than one Blue Heron Farm in Massachusetts.

Even though I thought I was being careful in doing my research I was contacted August 24 by a Hub Pages member named RAS, who brought some rather shocking news to me. Although my presidential historical information was correct, I had highlighted the wrong Blue Heron Farm. (Both Blue Heron Farms are now highlighted)

Prior to publishing this piece I had called Blue Heron Farm and got a live person on the other end. Being able to complete the phone call at all should have raised a red flag for me. I, mean, here I am, Mr. Joe Public making a phone call to where the President of the United States is coming for his vacation and getting answered on the phone by a very informative person, although I never mentioned the Obama Family. The second red flag should have been access to the Blue Heron website itself. And, lastly, the Blue Heron Farm I originally highlighted looks a bit too-earthy for a visit from the President of the United States. The official Blue Heron Farm has no website, or, if they do, it's doesn't appear to be up and running.

Blue Heron Farm - Chilmark, MA - Obama's Vacation

The farm is located on historic Martha's Vineyard, near Chilmark, Massachusetts. Obama will become the third U.S. President to stay, with U.S. Grant and Bill Clinton preceeding him.

Blue Heron Farm is owned by William and Molly VanDevender (who are both Republicans) from Mississippi. The property is almost 30 acres and contains a house, guest house, boat house, horse barn and pasture land, golf green, and pool.

It is located on Cobb's Hill Road, very close to Tisbury Great Pond, east of the community of Chilmark.

You can use "Google Earth" to easily see the entire property and structures.

The Non-Obama Blue Heron Farm

Blue Heron Farm is a 140 acre working farm, 2 hours west of Boston, MA, and 1 1/2 hours north of Hartford, CT, and located in a 4-season resort area. Families and other visitors are welcome year round.

Blue Heron Farm offers five different complete homes for vacation rentals. Each home is unique to itself and comes fully furnished, with all amenities, including dinnerware, knives, forks, and spoons. All homes are winterized to keep you tucked in, nice, and warm.  All of the homes are smoke-free and no pets are allowed.

There is much to see and do year-round. River rafting trips (Class 3 and 4 rapids) are available with guides, as, well, as fly fishing trips.

In winter, Blue Heron Farm is only 2 miles from the well-maintained Berkshire East Ski Area, with a brand new base lodge, excellent lift capacity, a well-stocked ski and snowboard shop, 45 trails, and snow making capacity on 100% of the mountain.

As, you can see there is a Blue Heron Farm for all of us too, not as lavish, but, without a doubt, grand!  You will hear no outside traffic noise.
