Blue Light Treatment for Acne
Having a life long struggle with your complexion can take its toll in the form of mental stress and anguish. But if you suffer from acne, you are by no means alone. There are millions of other people also suffering the same problems day in and day out with really no solution, only hope. But the FDA has recently approved a new treatment for acne that is truly revolutionary, blue light acne treatment. I know what you are thinking because I was thinking the exact same thing when I heard about this, “You mean it is possible to help my complexion with light?” I mean, it's so simple, easy, non invasive, and it actually makes a lot of sense once you think about it. But I wanted to find out more, as much as I could, so I started to do some research. I had lots of questions like, how invasive is this therapy, how much does it cost, what is a procedure like, what are the side effects. My biggest question of all though was, “How does blue light treatments for acne actually work?”
For me, all the other acne treatments didn't really work but I just kept taking them in the hopes that over the long term they would start working. Instead, I actually became allergic and they made me sick. I was pretty down until I heard about blue light acne treatment, I thought it could be my answer. But I wanted to see what other people had to say first. And now I've come full circle and am telling people what I have found out. And it seems that I am not alone because this futuristic treatment is really gaining popularity quick and interest has been generated among a lot of people. Let's discuss first about the specifics the procedure itself.
Principles Behind Blue Light Treatment for Acne
First I wanted to find out how this technology worked and what the process was to ultimately get rid of bad complexion. I also wanted to know how does this effect the skin as a whole, what if any are the side effects, does this treatment affect any other areas of the body or you daily life in general, but mostly, because I am inquisitive, how does this technology work? I found out the idea behind the blue light treatment is to attack the cause of acne, the P. acnes bacteria. I was wondering does this light affect surrounding skin? One of the most interesting thing I found out about the blue light acne treatment is that it doesn't actually attack the bacteria at all. The light acne treatment gets your body to heal itself by stimulating porphyrins which through a series of reactions create peroxide and that kills the P. acnes bacteris. That's so interesting that this method really only helps your body heal itself. This is way less invasive than antibiotics which hurt your immune system. Now let's talk about how the procedure itself looks like.
The Procedure of Blue Light Acne Treatments
The procedure is pretty much what you would think it would be, sitting in a chair or lying on a table with a light close to your face (or wherever you are having the acne treated). It's quick, around half an hour, and easy. You do have to put on protective eye wear but it's no big deal.
It is possible to start seeing results after two weeks when you are going to weekly session but it takes a little longer for most people.
Side Effects
Although some people will try to tell there are absolutely no side effects that is not true in my case. I did experience dryness and some redness on my face during treatments. This is somewhat irritating but I just used some aloe vera lotion and it helped. Other than that I was able to go about my daily routine without any noticeable effects from the treatment.
Conclusion on Acne Blue Light Therapy
Although this procedure is costly and it doesn't live up to the glowing advertisements, I would suggest that people look into it, especially if you are having no results from the other treatments you are currently taking. Before you actually take the plunge and get this done read as many reviews of blue light acne treatment as you can.
