Bondi Beach - Sydney
84Bondi beach is Sydney's most famous beach and an Australian icon. Bondi is an aboriginal name roughly means, "noise of tumbling waters" , a description that sums up this beach and its rolling surf.
Bondi is the closest beach to the city (8 kilometres from city to sand) and home to one of the oldest Surf Life Saving Clubs (1906). The beach is roughly a kilometre long and is patrolled by lifesavers.
There are some fantastic pubs, bars, and cafes as well as good bookshops, and surf and clothing shops along Campbell Parade, it is a lively and busy atmosphere
During summer you will likely to witness surf carnival and beach events.
You can even play golf overlooking the ocean at the public Bondi Golf Course.
Bondi is a great place to stay with a growing range of accommodation, including hostels, bed and breakfast and hotels to suit all budgets.
Sydneysiders come to this world-famous strip of surf and sand to relax and play. Whether it is summer or winter, you can swim, surf, sunbathe, walk, jog eat, drink or simply just sit in the sand and enjoy the view.
