2. I Only Say This Because I Love You By Deborah Tannen

In I Only Say This Because I Love You, Tannen shows how important it is, in family talk, to learn to separate word meanings, or messages, from heart meanings, or metamessages — unstated but powerful meanings that come from the history of our relationships and the way things are said. Presenting real conversations from people's lives, Tannen reveals what is actually going on in family talk, including how family conversations must balance the longing for connection with the desire for control, as we struggle to be close without giving up our freedom.

This eye-opening book explains why grown women so often feel criticized by their mothers; and why mothers feel they can't open their mouths around their grown daughters; why growing up male or female, or as an older or younger sibling, results in different experiences of family that persist throughout our lives; and much, much more. By helping us to understand and redefine family talk, Tannen provides the tools to improve relationships with family members of every age.

Books by Indian Authors: Chetan Bhagat

1. One night @ call centre

I purchased the book titled One night @ call centre at a railway platform just to pass the time. Reason for selecting this book was obvious; I have great interest in IT and since this book is about call center, I purchased it to peep into the inside life of call center 's people including millions of young Indian boys and girls working together during night.

So few words about the story:

Author has presented story in a style: started story with beginning of a one night rail journey and ended it with termination of journey with sunrise.

Message is very clear: There is always a ray of hope after darkness

Story depicts:

Sufferings of Call Center Agents (intelligent, hard working) inflicted on them by incompetent but shrewd boss (cheaters, selfish in nature, taking credit of other's work)

Tit for tat

Love and hate relationship

Changing Indian culture

There is someone to take care of all (God)

God makes a deal with Call Center people trapped inside a ‘Qualis’ with their lives in danger.

God will save their life but in return will take a promise that they will think about what they really want and what they need to change in their life to get it and will act on those changes.

I think enough is enough, I am not a critic and don't consider myself competent like its main character "Sam" to comment on a best seller by an IITian. You should read this book and enjoy. So I should stop here but I am sure you will not repent spending Rs 95 for purchasing it.

But I found this book so interesting that I finished whole book in two shifts though story deals with one night shift at a call center.

I give full marks to the Author of this book. Book was published by Rupa. Co , 7/16, Ansari Road, Daryaganj, New Delhi 110 002

2. Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat

Other one entitled Five Point Someone is also a great book and publishers claim that it is shortly going to be story of a Hindi movie. This bookk is about college life and describes how students cope up with pressure of studies and so many other aspect related to it

3. The 3 Mistakes of My Life by Chetan Bhagat

As usual, his novel's theme revolve around India's middle class youth and relates to jobs, pressure of work and home, romance, frustration and ambitions. He is an amateur writer who works in investment banking. He writes in his spare time. He uses a very simple and entertaining language of a story teller. Most of his books are social commentary of struggle and challanges faced by the Indian youth.

This book is based on actual events related to sectarian riots in Gujarat in 2002. This book's theme revolves around the three most common issues viz., Cricket, Religion and Business. The story of the book moves around three friends trying to establish a business of cricket related equipments. There is tragedy (helplessness), feeling of guilt (love with close friend's sister) and social conflicts based on religion. In this book he tries to focus on different issues and masses different then his earlier two books. He succeeds to prove that he is is a good story teller.
