By adopting a dog from a Boxer dog rescue, you are making a life altering choice. Not only will you be changing the life of you and your family by adding an additional member, but you will also be bettering the life of a dog that no longer has a family to call his or her own.

There are many different Boxer dog rescue organizations across the country, ranging from very small ones to ones that are quite sizeable. Though there are rescues that accept every kind of breed, Boxer dog rescue groups rescue only Boxers.

Before you try to choose which Boxer dog rescue is the right one, you first need to make sure that the Boxer breed is the right one for your lifestyle, family, and expectations in a companion animal. Remember that you need to consider the size, temperament, energy level, and other important issues when you make that final choice for a breed of dog.

If Boxers are the right breed for you, then your next step is finding the right Boxer dog rescue. The internet will typically be your best resource for locating these organizations. You can also try calling an animal shelter to find out if they can recommend a Boxer dog rescue, since they may work with on in order to prevent having to euthanize animals that are unclaimed, not adopted and left in the shelter too long.

In order to decide if a Boxer dog rescue is a good one, you'll want to make an appointment and visit, so that you can see the conditions and meet the individuals responsible for the animals. Remember that when you are adopting a dog from rescues, you are trying to support a good place that puts the animals first. If you find that the dogs are not well cared for and their home is dirty, you don't want to give the adoption money to fund a place like that.

Instead, try to find a Boxer dog rescue that is clean, where you get a good feeling about the people you meet there, who have been around for a long time, and who have a good reputation. Testimonials on the website and references provided by the Boxer dog rescue can be very helpful for finding out about the kind of experience you can expect to have with your own adoption.

Many Boxer dogs do get given to rescue centres, as they can be quite a handful when very young. They are the best breed of dog you can get, they just need firm discipline and somewhere to get rid of some of that surplus energy!

Great article! I have a boxer who is 8 months old with lots of energy;-)

He has become a part of the family and is always giving us something new to laugh at because of his inquisitive nature.

Party Girl is also right on the money about discipline and energy as they need someone at home with them in order for them to learn properly.

Nice Job,

Carol
