History of Veils

Veils are common items of clothing that have been worn by women for as long as we can remember. Veils have been used by women for a long time, and they are still used to this very day to cover parts of their face, and sometimes even to cover the head entirely. According to history, the first recorded use of veils was sometime around the 13th century BC by the ancient women of Assyria. There were also recorded uses of veils in the ancient Greek society, the Persian society and even by the women of the Persepolis society.

Veils don't just have practical purposes, but they also have religious purposes as well. For religious purposes, veils are used in Islam, Christianity and Judaism mostly, although there are other religions that do incorporate the use of veils as well, not necessarily just these three. But regardless of whether they are used for practical or religious purposes there is one place that veils consistently keep popping up and making an appearance as they have been all these years, and that is at wedding ceremonies where they are called bridal veils, even discount bridal veils qualify under this category.

These bridal veils, even discount bridal veils if you happen to be a bride on a budget (not to worry though if you are because even thought they are discounted, they can actually be very beautiful indeed if you know how to pick the right one for you), commonly make an appearance these days in weddings. This is especially even more so if they follow the white wedding tradition, as most brides tend to do. There are some other religions that do incorporate the use of bridal veils, or discount bridal veils at their weddings, but the common one which we are familiar with is of course the white wedding version.

Bridal Veils

The bridal veils, or discount bridal veils are especially popular in Christian weddings where they have been used ever since the beginning you might say. The veils have always played a big part in making an appearance at Christian weddings, because the lifting of the veil by the groom is part of an ancient wedding ritual. When the groom lifts the bride's veil, it is supposed to symbolically mean that the groom is now claiming the bride as his own and that they are now one, joined together by marriage and that she is now his wife and his lifetime partner.

So why does a bride wear bridal veils, or discount bridal veils? Well one of the most basic reasons is because it was commonly believed that it was bad luck for the groom to see his bride before the wedding, so the solution was to wear a veil to cover her face and that is probably one of the most common phrases we have heard over time when it comes to weddings. In the old days, it was also believed that a veil was used to conceal the bride's beauty from the groom, to make her that much more appealing and alluring to him while he anticipated how she would look underneath the veil.

How To Choose The Right Veil

Picking the right veil for you is easy if you know just how to go about it. The ideal length for the veil can be anywhere between short to medium length, because ideally you don't want your veil to be too long. So about medium should be what you would want to aim for. Also keeping the veil simple is a good idea, because you don't want to go overboard when dressing up for your wedding day.

Also, make sure that the wedding veil you select will fit the tiara you are going to wear properly. Obviously you are going to need to wear a tiara because there is nothing to attach the veil to otherwise, so ideally you should try to buy these two items together so that you don't go wrong.

The few other things to bear in mind when picking out your veil are the material you want to use on that day, the color of the veil you are going to select which naturally has to match the dress, the tiara and the hairstyle on the wedding day. When you have these all down, then you are on your way to looking like the beautiful bride you have always imagined yourself to be and you are ready for your perfect day.
