From one DIY person to another, you can build your own windmill today. Whether you buy a do it yourself windmill kit or a DIY windmill guide, you can build your own windmill. By taking the right steps, you’ll be well on your way to building the perfect windmill for you.

I can think of many reasons to build a windmill, but one is to reduce energy bills.

Knowing your energy consumption is the big first step. You can figure this out easily. Review your last month’s bills from your utility companies to see what energy you’re using. It should only take you a few minutes to find out. By knowing how much power you use, you’ll know how much power you need to produce. Building the right windmill is now easier, because you know the power needed.

Now for a green tip. Sit back and look at all the things sucking up energy in your life. Can you reduce your energy anywhere? One common thing is the empty room with the light on. Did you know that power strips that are left on use energy?

Now it’s time to look at the wind situation in your area. Check your weather station to find out how many windy days your area has annually and what the flow is like. And what type of wind are you looking at on average? For instance, perhaps your location has 5-10mph winds fairly regularly.

Where will your windmill be located? Perhaps you can build a grand windmill or maybe you need to build a micro windmill.

While you could just run out and buy windmill parts, it’s wiser to think about buying a guide even if you’re learning toward picking up a windmill kit. I’d recommend purchasing a how to build a windmill guide to make life easier. It’s no fun staring at poor instructions and windmill parts. Have fun building your homemade windmill.
