Demonstration of the Toto Washlet

An introduction to a washlet

I didn’t think much of toilets until I visited Japan a few years ago to attend a friends wedding. He let me stay at his grandfather’s place and it was a nice experience staying at a traditional Japanese home in the country surrounded by miles of farmland growing rice.

I slept on a futon, watched the koi in his grandfather's pond by the front of the house, surrounded by his garden of bonsai trees. The time I spent at the house was great.

Then I had to go to the bathroom.

I stared looking at the mechanism in front of me for a few minutes because it wasn’t just a regular toilet with a lid. This appliance had buttons! Being a gadget freak, I was curious to figure out what they did, and so I sat on the lid and did my business.

Good thing I took Japanese when I went to college, and so looking at the icons and the characters, I was able to figure out the functions of each button.

Fun with my bum

I then clicked the spray button. Whoa dude! The toilet is spraying me! Another click, woo, it’s now drying my ass! What the, the lid is warming my bottom!

This is pretty awesome! All I needed now was to have my back massaged and I could have sat on that toilet for hours, now if there was an LCD television hooked up to Cable and a fridge nearby, oh man. I could only dream right?

That was my initiation to the world of a Japanese washlet. What’s that? A washlet is just a toilet seat that can be placed on top of any toilet and has all that stuff I mentioned and more depending on how much you want to spend. Once you get used to the amenities, it just feels right and heats you up in the morning, noon or night.

The fancier models even let you adjust the water temperature and water pressure, a multi button remote for all your cleaning needs, a jet of warm air to clean you up and for those embarrassed of that odor smell, some Toto washlets have an automatic air purifier!

For those who dislike opening the lid, there are automatic toilet lids so you never will have to touch it again! Did I mention heated seats? I hate it when I sit down on a toilet lid and it’s cold to my bum. This is where heated toilet lids come to the rescue in the morning!

The cost of a modern throne

What is the cost for this modern technological tour de force? Doing a quick search online, the price is a bit more than $1,000 just for the washlet. Most of the sites I saw had the S400 in combination with a toilet and that made the price between $1,500 to more than $2,000.

On Toto’s site, the description says that the S400 has been designed to fit exclusively with select TOTO toilets. So make sure you don’t get ripped off and be given a toilet from another manufacturer when ordering the combo!

The least expensive unit is the C100 followed by a more expensive E200 and the second most expensive unit, the S300.

Who loves you baby?

My advice is that if you want to be a king or a queen of your own household, you need a throne baby! Many people dream of having one, but now you can own one and have your personal throne that warms you up, cleans your bottom, and purifies the air with a nice sweet scent, all from the touch of a button! Who loves you baby? Toto that’s who!

I got carried away there with the one-liners, but once I get the money, I’m there at the Toto dealer or most like Amazon!
