Why You Should Buy a Cape Cod Timeshare

Cape Cod timeshares can be a good thing, if you really love the place that you're purchasing the timeshare. Here, we'll weigh out the reasons you should buy a timeshare (along with some things to keep in mind below...)

  • You won't have to pay outrageous prices at hotels and motels.
  • No worrying about booking hotels, just head back year after year.
  • Pass it on to your children, grandchildren, family or friends. Timeshares can be worth money, and considered an asset.
  • Save money on hotels, and be able to cook your own food in your own room
  • You'll save money on food, and often have more room than a conventional hotel room
  • Exchange your timeshare for elsewhere across the country or internationally for a change up. Bank your week to use it in California, Florida, Mexico or elsewhere (it depends on if the timeshare is part of a network like RCI)

Some Things to Keep in Mind Before Buying a Timeshare on Cape Cod

On Cape Cod, there are plenty of timeshares available, but most are situated on the middle and near the Outer Cape. Dennis, Yarmouth, and Harwich are popular towns filled with timeshare complexes.

Here are some things to consider before making your big purchase:

  • Check Ebay for timeshares. They can often be much, much cheaper than buying from elsewhere! (you'll find some timeshares for sale right on this page on Ebay)
  • Check to see the reviews of the property by doing a Google search for the name of the property plus the word "reviews".
  • A timeshare is often for 30 years, sometimes for life. Check to see how long you are purchasing your timeshare unit for!
  • Keep in mind your maintenance fees. These can range from around $150 a year to much higher, and can be subject to change. However, they usually remain very stable and affordable, especially compared to hotels.
  • Check the condition of the timeshare property. If the property is in need of maintenance and enough money is not in the reserve account for the property, an assessment fee could be charged to owners to help pay for it. Call the property to see if any assessments are in the near future.
  • See what code the week is with the timeshare exchange company. Is it a "red" week, which is often the highest and best - or something less? The higher your rank or color code (which are often in the summer), the better your trading power. Cape Cod timeshares in the summer into the early fall often have excellent trading power.
