How to call a phone number in London from the United States
77
The number you have for London might be presented in a number of different ways:
+44 (0)20 5555 5555 (this has the UK country code)
020 5555 5555 (this assumes you're calling from within the UK)
5555 5555 (very unlikely, because it doesn't include the area code)
In each case you'll need the country code (44 for UK), and the area code, minus the leading zero (20 in the case of the example above).
To call any international number from the US, start with 011 first (from a landline phone) or hold down the 0 button until it turns into a + (from a cellphone).
011 44 20 5555 5555 (from a regular landline phone)
+44 20 5555 5555 (from your cellphone)

Gawd, calling between countries over here is such a PITA. Though, at least here they write it +420, so you don't have to wonder what the friggin 0 means! The first time I ever called Europe from the US (to AMS) it took me 5 tries to figure it out. I could have used this hub then, lol. :)
It takes time to adjust, now I don't that much mostly e-mails and chat with overseas friends. This is a good one for those who want to call UK, same priniciple for other countries also.
If you think this is confusing, Italy uses the same system with the 0 before the number, and it was like the UK so that you'd have to eliminate the 0 when calling from overseas. Then they changed it so that now you do have to put the 0 in. Unless of course, you're calling a cell number in which case you don't use 0. Oh fer cryin' out loud!!!:)
Ah thank you!!! I need to call a store in the UK and I was trying to figure that out! This helps BIG TIME!!!! :)
Thank you very mych for this website. It really helped. All the other websites had a bunch of weird numbers. Thanks for keeping it simple and to the point. Thanks it really helped a lot.
