1.Create a check list

Contrary to what some other people think, making lists is not only for those who are obsessive compulsive. This is a practical method to ensure that you've packed every essential thing you need to have an enjoyable camping experience at the beach.

Your list should include:

  • Camping gear such as dome tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, lanterns, and flashlights.
  • Food related items: stove, matches, cookware, cooking and eating utensils, plates, bowls, cups, coolers, food, water, and dishtowels.
  • Personal items such as clothing, sunglasses, slippers, and toiletries.
  • Swimming gear like swimwear, goggles, snorkel, and floatation devices.
  • Emergency and safety: first aid kit (antibacterial ointment, bandages, tweezers, pain relief, thermometer and many others), medications, sunscreen and insect repellent spray or lotion.
  • Fun essentials: games, camera, video camera, volleyball, Frisbee, trowels and pails for sand sculptures.

2.Don’t bring bulky containers

Transfer sufficient amount of shampoo, liquid soap, medicines and other things in smaller containers so you do not need to bring their bulky and heavy containers.

3.Roll clothes such as shirts and pants.

This will save a lot of space in your luggage. You can also make use of the extra space inside the shoes where you can squeeze in smaller items to save more luggage space.

5.Opt for lightweight items.

If you're torn between bringing a pan and another pan, consider which one is lighter in weight and go for this. You can also save space and weight by removing unnecessary attachments in the things you're packing. For example, if your pot has a detachable handle, why not leave the handle at home and replace it with a wire that is not only lighter in weight but is also a space-saver.

6.Packing for kids and babies

  • Pack ultra-absorbent diapers.
  • Bring printed shirts, which can conceal stains more effectively than plain ones.
  • Pack toys that offer numerous possible activities rather than multiple toys that each offers only one activity.

Packing wisely for your summer escape is one step towards having a successful and memorable experience.
