Connecting The Dots Between Stress, Cortisol, and Belly Fat

Two diseases have been coined, the "silent killer". Stress and diabetes, with stress causing such deterioration of health and life, it affects every part of our bodies. Research shows that our ancestors were much less stressed than we. We move too fast, and have bought into the ideology that the "Joneses" are where it's and if we don't keep up with the "Joneses", we may not win the race. Heaven forbid we may lose out on what? Our health. It's been said time and time again that the main contributor to our overall declination of health is being over-stressed.

Many find it hard to understand but the studies have shown that Belly Fat and stress go hand in hand. Stress can make us fat... which leads to more stress... which leads to us getting fatter. It will be refreshing to know, there are answers to this fat cycle but first, you need to understand the connection.

By comparing their research data, the experts use the points below to show us how belly fat is related to stress.

Aging, Stress, Belly Fat, and Worse

As we age, we tend to eat a little more, stress a little more and become sedentary. Because of this, we get a sort of fat build up around our organs called visceral fat.

Here's the really bad part. This abdominal fat is not content with simply resting on the stomach. It is very active, releasing substances into the organs which are very harmful to the body. Free fatty acids are released into the systems which impair the functioning of the body.

Adaptive Thermogenesis and Belly Fat

Whatever you want to call it belly fat, abdominal fat, fat stomach, or a pooch, is the hardest fat to get rid of because it's so deeply embedded in our bodies.

Ready For Some Good News?

An ingredient called Fucoxanthin has been known to target this particular fat. There have been more than plenty of studies done on Fucoxanthin which comes from seaweed. Most often, a seaweed from Japan called wakame. There have been studies that fucoxanthin targets belly fat by adaptive thermogenisis.

Fucoxanthin is really becoming well known as a belly fat buster. But the most exciting news of all is that there is a patented process called FucoPure. FucoPure Fucoxanthin is 10 times stronger than ANY fucoxanthin in the marketplace and is 1,000 times stronger than naturally occurring fucoxanthin. You can only get SlimMax with FucoPure -- Right Here.

WARNING: Fat Storage Underway

Although behavioral response to stress is the main cause of weight gain, there are physiological reasons also. Under stress, the body releases a hormone called cortisol. In the body, the release of this hormone is a signal to increase appetite and store fat. This means that whenever we are stressed out, the hormone in our brain tells us that we are hungry while simultaneously instructing our fat cells to store as much fat as they can. Research has shown that this type of fat is stored in the body and creates belly fat.

Although cortisol is essential to metabolize carbohydrates in our body, the body only requires a very small amount of cortisol for this function. Conversely, an excess of cortisol tends to lead to a build up of abdominal fat. Thus, by becoming stressed, we release more cortisol than our body requires, and we are doomed to the metabolic consequence of storing belly fat.

Cortisol : The Fight or Flight Hormone

Cortisol has been termed the 'fight or flight' hormone because it has the ability to increase our blood pressure and blood sugar which is helpful if we need to run away from a harmful situation or perhaps actually fight. Because the body doesn't distinguish between a life-threatening stressful situation versus one of being stuck in traffic while going to pick a child up from school, the body reacts and responds identically. When anyone faces an adverse situation, the immediate response is to overcome it and this is propelled by cortisol. These responses use a lot of energy, so, cortisol simultaneously tells other important physical functions to either slow down or shut down. These functions maybe digestion, physical growth, reproduction, immunity and they combine to put fat on the stomach. Cortisol stimulates the production of fat contents in the stomach and this is how stress affects belly fat.

Cortisol Takes Over When We Ignore Emotional Needs

Thus, in daily life when we experience stressors such as work deadlines, family demands, traffic, less sleep and/or very strict dieting, we are more prone to develop the inevitable belly fat. If workplaces opportunities are increasing, stresses are also increasing side by side. When people get so consumed with their work that they start ignoring their emotional needs, then the stress hormone kicks in and together with other factors contributes to weight gain in the abdomen. In these various ways we see how stress affects belly fat.

When we are feeling depressed, and stressed out, our appetite increases due to the kick-start of this stress hormone, cortisol, which causes us to invariably reach for food without realizing whether what we are eating is right for us or not. If this happens often enough, gradually fat deposits start building up on the stomach and this is also how stress affects belly fat.
