Canoeing and Kayaking

Canoeing and kayaking are two types of water sports, which are growing in popularity around the world. Both either offer you the chance to just while a way of few hours or can be used to add excitement to your life. However, when carrying out either of these sports you should be aware of the dangers that you may face.

Whenever out on the water it is advisable to wear a lifejacket (life vest) even if you are a very experienced swimmer. Remember these kinds of boats are very lightweight and any untoward movement could result in them tipping over.

Kayaking basics

t is also important that before you head off for the weekend or week you check the weather forecast. If you find that the weather is not going to be as good as expected then it would be advisable to postpone the trip until a date when it is. Remember these craft are very lightweight and are not able to cope with storms.

When you first start out either kayaking or canoeing, you should spend time learning how to handle the craft first. Why not find a lake or gently running river where you can actually spend time learning how to paddle correctly and how to handle your craft. Also, why not find a club close to where you live that offers lessons relating to all aspects of canoeing and kayaking. The more you know before you actually go out and the water the much easier you will find it to cope with any given situation.
