Remove the duplicate content forever with Canonical Tag

At this point everyone should have heard the latest news in the world of Internet, blogs, websites, SEO and search engines. I am speaking of Canonical Tag for duplicate content, or the Canonical link element as already known.

Google, Yahoo and MSN have introduced a rule in the search engines named the Canonical tag, this rule is intended to eliminate duplicate content indexed by search engines.

From now you can assign to websites and blogs a structure like this:

<head>
<link rel=”canonical” href=” http://hubpages.com/hub/canonicaltag.html” />
</head>

This structure applies to the head of a site, blog or web page so that search engines identify what is the original version or the main link and eliminate the possibility of creating duplicate content in a domain of website or blog.

So this is welcomed news for all webmasters to see their sites or blogs increase their rating and possibly the pagerank.

One way to indicate to search engines which is the original link is to use the sitemap.xml in a the server. But with this new and powerful technology is no longer the only automatic tool for the purpose stated.

As this is very common in blogs is now available for download the plugins:

To conclude my little knowledge in this area the great advantage of using the tag or the Canonical link element with rel = "Canonical" is that it becomes possible to tell the search engines in an explicit and direct form what is the version of the original link and content, including the code in your site or blog, the structure specified above, and never worry about the duplicate content on your site or blog.

I invite everyone to comment on this subject here at Canonical Tag hub, so that we increase our knowledge on this topic.

Best regards and good work,
Megamass

G'day mate , I don't think we can use this new tag on Hubpages as yet?

As I understand the video it seems to be only in trial at the moment and will only work within the one domain. But how will this stop people from stealing your content and putting "canonical tag" on the stolen content?

Hello hub friend,

You are right this tool can not be used on hubpages for us "the hubbers" but can be used by site the owners of hubapes.com.

This tool is for who owns a website or blog and believes it is a tool that will be much spoken and used.

The content stolen from other sites or the duplicate content you talk about is not controlled by this tool.

To prevent copying of content from websites or blogs you can use the only tool I know http://www.copyscape.com/
