Paying high prices for car stereo equipment doesn't necessarily buy you better quality these days. You may even find some discount car audio components perform better than some of the most expensive models out there. You should always know what you are looking for as far as functionality and sound quality in a car audio system than simply buying a stereo just because it’s expensive.
Technology in the car audio industry is constantly changing for the better and mind-blowing in every aspect from sound to power. While technology had changed, what people want in there car audio system hasn’t and that’s more power and better sound. One that is clean, balanced and free of distortion. Here is five quick and easy ways you can give your own car a little bit of extra boost in sound quality.
· Put in new speakers – It may sound too easy to be true but in reality, new speakers make a world of difference. There is a noticeable difference in sound quality between aftermarket speakers and OE. If you’re looking for a quick and cheap improvement to your car audio system, you really can’t go wrong with a new set of speakers.
· Have your speakers in phase – Even if you had your speakers professionally installed, it doesn’t hurt to check if your speakers and subwoofer are wired correctly in phase. This means that the positive and negative leads of the speaker wires are connected the same way at both the receiver and the speaker. One way to test this is to fade the radio completely to the front, and then turn the balance all the way to the right or left. As you move the balance back to the center of the car, there should be more bass sound. If there isn’t, then your speakers are not in phase.
· Use some tweeters – Anyone with speakers mounted low on their car doors can attest that it sounds muddy and poor. Why wouldn’t they? The sound is going right into the car seat and your legs instead of your ears. Add a few component tweeters on the sail panels or even the front window pillars for some great sounds and a cool look. Now you can focus the sounds to be played directly at. This should improve your overall listening experience.
· Upgrade the head unit – Remember what I said about speakers being so important? Well, your stereo head unit comes in a close second behind them in importance. A stylish and high-powered aftermarket head unit gives you a cleaner amp section for better sound with less distortion. They also give you the ability to add extra music sources like an iPod, satellite radio tuner, or even DVD media.
· Add an amplifier – Now to make all these extra audio components work together, you’re going to need some extra power. I suggest getting yourself an amplifier with some juice in it give your car that additional boost in sound quality. Your car audio speakers are going to need clean, consistent power to sound their best. The extra power from an amp gives you a fuller, more dynamic sound at any volume level. There are a large variety of amp configurations for you to choose from. Know what type will work best for your system between a 3-, 4-, or 5-channel amp and you’re in business giving your car audio components all the power they need.
