Trust Your Instincts!
One day at work I received a link to a photo from my boyfriend. A little background before I dive into the story...We'd been dating for 2.5 years but I recently was getting the feeling that he was cheating. I had no proof, but my instincts were telling me something was up.
So I get the photo link and noticed that the address originated from MySpace. I didn't have a profile set up so I didn't know much about the site, but for some reason a little voice in my head was telling me that I needed to investigate. Thank goodness I listened because that's ultimately how I discovered that my boyfriend was cheating.
How I Figured It Out
I went to the MySpace homepage and did a general search for his name. Unfortuantely both his first and last name are very common so that brought up thousands of results. I was a woman on a mission, but who has that kind of time? I was able to narrow it down by zip code and....voila! His profile appeared for the world to see.
At first nothing really jumped out at me and I thought maybe I was being a crazy stalker. Then I started browsing through his comments and noticed some suggestive ones coming from the same girl. A girl that I had never met before. Hmmmm, that definitely raised the red flag. Lucky for me, this was back in the day when MySpace didn't have the option of privatizing profiles, so I was also able to look at "her" proflie and read the comments he had sent her. There was absolutely something going on!

Catching the Cheater
Rather than sit back and wonder what was going on, I decided to take action. I sent her an innocent email asking how she knew my boyfriend and how long they had been friends. It wasn't easy to click "send"...my stomach was full of butterflies, but I had to know.
Instead of getting a response from her, I get a call from my boyfriend telling me not to contact her and that nothing was going on. Hmmmm, why was he so upset if nothing was going on? Needless to say, I was even more suspicious than before, but didn't have a lick of proof. Why I didn't just trust my instincts from the beginning, I'll never know, but I needed proof.
After about a month, my boyfriend was out with friends and asked me to meet them up. I decide to ge and as I'm waiting in line (he's outside waiting with me) I see none other than "her" walking towards the same entrance. I decide to watch the scene unfold. He looks like he has seen a ghost and she looks pissed off and embarrased. She leaves and that night I finally get an email back from her saying that he had been dating her for the last 3 months and told her that he and I were trying to be friends again after a long relationship. That's why she never responded to my email before...he had created the perfect alibi.
Well, she and I both gave him the boot and ended up becoming good friends. This was about 4 years ago and we still hang out on pretty much a weekly basis. In fact, I met my current boyfriend through her!
