CCTV fights has long been associated with the technology of CCTV because as far as this author can remember that was the first large scale application of CCTV when they used to broadcast over the medium to a select few that paid for the right to watch the CCTV fights if they chose not to pay or couldn’t pay for a seat at the main event.
These days those fights have moved to the more lucrative medium of pay per view and CCTV fights are primarily those that are caught on CCTV that is used for security.
A quick scan of YouTube will yield a plethora of CCTV fights anywhere from parking lots to barrooms or even mall courts. There is hardly a public place that has any need for security that has not caught their fair share of CCTV fights.
These fights are usually the school yard kind but occasionally a CCTV fight will catch a full on gloves off fist fight that you could only see were you lucky (or unlucky) enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
These cameras that catch the CCTV fights are often used in a court to prove who was to blame if in fact there was any blame to be placed at all.
Probably the most famous CCTV fight that I have not been able to locate on the Internet was of a couple of girls that literally pulled each others hair out and ripped off almost all of each others clothes in a 9 minute battle that turned out to be over what was originally meant to be a compliment from one girl to the other. The ensuing CCTV fight that took place was historic but the webpage has since been removed probably for legal reasons since one girl was definitely at fault for inciting the brawl.
CCTV fights can be very entertaining but at times are valuable pieces of footage for the legal system as stated before and the number of cases they have resolved is almost without number. Although CCTV has invaded our lives in more ways than we would like, this is one where we can probably learn to live with it.
