Twenty-five minutes past nine in the morning. As I started my day by reading Drudge’s headlines, the kid in the White House came on FOX News feeding us his empty talk. Don’t know what he said for almost immediately after turning on the radio, he started taking questions. Still don’t know because all question presenters spoke Arabic.
That guy can talk all he wants but it would be better if he would do, like they say, the walk. Taken word-for-word from Drudge’s headlines this morning, I learned:
- President not yet sure on timing of troop decision... Read
- PENTAGON CHIEF: OBAMA AFGHAN DECISION CAN'T WAIT Read
- PARTY! Obamas big on White House gigs... Read
- PAPER: Excuses wearing thin for president, media pals... Read
- Dems paying off Docs to support ObamaCare? Read
Dang that George Bush!
If not for George, the messiah would be way down the road of communism, maybe even beyond socialism by now. Now, our wonder president has to fix eight years of Bush. That’s what he tells us anyway, every chance he gets. The 53% gang must be awfully frustrated.
Well, if we are unlucky, we have seven more years of digging our way out of the mess blamed on Bush by the Obama administration. Three years if we are lucky.
Troops
We have a president dilly-dallying about our troop level in Afghanistan while General Stanley McChyrstal and Defense Secretary Robert Gates make their positions clear. We need more troops to win. Mr. Obama has known of the concern for at least a couple of months but now claims it is best to wait until after the Afghanistan election is decided. Guess it depends upon whether we fight wars to maul the enemy or gather political ground.
Thin excuses
For sure, the excuses we hear do wear thin although the Obama administration would rather use the word reasons instead of excuses. I interpret the gist of the article to be Mr. Obama is campaigning, not governing. Bet one could drive across the Great United States and find not one person disagreeing.
Nobody could report the excuses and the dismal shortcomings of the Obama administration better than did Mr. Huntley.
Pay off the docs and seniors
Not only the doctors but Mr. Obama plans to pay off our senior citizens. To be a nice guy of course (in a pig’s eye), our esteemed president wants to give senior citizens $250 to compensate for no social security cost of living increase. That sounds good for old people like me but how can I believe he makes this offer, $13 billion in total, just to be generous? Generous to same group he will push over the cliff when they become sick and their usefulness no longer justifies continued living. I can’t.
Instead, I have to believe Mr. Obama’s ulterior motive for the $250 senior windfall is a feeble attempt to calm the seniors who expect him to take a large chunk from Medicare to pay for ObamaCare.
Whatever.
I’ll gladly take the $250 but I will never mellow regarding his dopey healthcare.
Party on
Seems to me we have a president who wants the prestige and social life of the presidency but does not want to perform the duties of a president. During my 50 years in the business environment, I’ve seen more than a small number of people in similar situations. They enjoyed the pay and prestige but fell short when trying to get the job done. Same for Mr. Obama.
Ceremonial president
If our United States government were structured differently, Mr. Obama would probably be wildly successful. If we had a real president that could do the heavy lifting, then Mr. Obama could jaunt around the world rubbing elbows and having beer summits with like people.
But, that’s not how we are structured or want to be structured. Other countries have ceremonial leaders but not here in the United States.
Too bad for Mr. Obama. That is the strongest part of his resume.
