56Changing your Mindset
The birth of my first granddaughter, Taylor, was a very happy time for
me, I am striving to maintain this kind of happiness and good feelings
in my life all the time.
A lot of online Gurus and programs stress the power of positive
thinking and goal setting. It is our negative thoughts and ideas that
are the biggest barriers to our success. My children were terrified of
taking the TAKS test, they had to take this test to pass on to the next
grade. It wasn't until I gave them a polished stone stating it had
magical powers which would help them remember all the right answers to
the test. Not only did all the nausea and nervousness disappear, they
also started getting commended on the tests.
Years of living in a negative environment can keep us locked in a
prison of our own making, we constantly end up sabotaging ourselves.
Take one day at a time, write down all the things that are important to
you, everything you want to accomplish. A strong positive statement
puts 2 mental qualities into use, intention and expectation. Intention
is no longer a wish or a hope it is a determination to act.
Good Things will Start to Happen
Being an observer during my daughters track meets I noticed on the days
that she felt positive and happy, she was able to accomplish her goals.
Most of the children have a PR (personal record) that they try to
achieve with the help of their coaches. Even if their PR does not land
them in first place their unbridled ecstasy and joy they feel lasts for
quite sometime. Reaching their first goal, not only does that help them
to feel good about themselves but it also puts their next goal in
reach. I have been at many meets where the children have come to me
with those simple words "I PR'd" nothing beats that.
Even though a lot of us feel ridiculous stating our goals ands
aspirations out loud , that is exactly what we should do. Write down
your goals and make all your statements positive i.e. My business is
successful not my business will not fail, I am financially secure not I
will not be poor, the second statements have negative connotations you
always want every statement positive with no negatives. Just thinking
about your goals in a positive manner sets you on a path to try and
achieve that level of success. You can just think your goals in your
mind but saying it aloud is more powerful. Saying it out loud implies a
commitment that makes it more likely you will take action to achieve
your goals. Following your vision always leads to success, start
following yours.

time we win or overcome an obstacle our thinking becomes more positive
and focused.
Once you know what you really want start small instead of I am becoming
rich try I am becoming financially secure, this will be more within
reach and more believable for you (you have to believe you can do it),
always make your statements short, to the point and positive i.e. I'm
not going to fail has too many negative connotations whereas I can do
it is short and positive.
Imagine it - every time my daughter imagined clearing the high jump bar
she was able to do just that. Focus on seeing and feeling the good
things happening to you, and it will happen. Whenever my stressors
become unbearable I lay down and think about the house I will have I
can see it in great detail, I even start to decorate the rooms in the
house. This creative visualization technique will help you clear your
mind and focus on the positive outcomes.
Write it down, repeat it daily. Post your message where you will see it
everyday, say it aloud. Saying it aloud makes you more committed to
reaching your goal. I have a goal book I look at everyday, not only do
I have specific goals written down I also have pictures of the house
and car I want. I use this book to help me visualize my ideal life. One
of my daily mantras is my business is successful. As I write this my
business is growing daily, everyday it seems that I receive a message
informing me that I have a new customer.
Last but not least never give up on your dreams, always look forward, focusing on the good things and they will come to pass.
