Recession proof your income

Lost your job? Make use of your strengths to generate income

Adversity is the mother of invention. Do not give up and don’t despair, look at your inner strengths. The best thing about America/ns is that we create work, we don’t need to wait or beg for work. Remember it is a land of opportunity, so why not avail the opportunity ourselves in this land of abundance. Here are a few jobs to start with:

1) Painting: Can you paint? If you can roll a roller on the wall, then you can paint. Ask your neighbors, friends, if anyone needs their home painted. Give them a fair price and get started. You may ask them for referrals, or print some flyer's and send them door to door. Advertise in the penny saver, church bulletin boards, grocery stores, etc. Ask your kids for help in distributing flyers.

2) Gardening: Ask if anyone needs help with cleaning their or mowing their yard, or help with planting bulbs in their garden, mulch their lawn, etc.

3) Cleaning help: We all have to clean our homes. How about cleaning someone else's for money every week or bi-weekly to earn cash? There are a lot of busy people who may be happy to get a helping hand.

4) Plumbing or electrical skills?: Have you ever fixed a water pipe, or faucet in your house? Then you do it for someone else for money (a little cheaper then a regular plumber). How about fixing light bulbs, or garbage disposal? Advertise your strengths and sell your services slightly cheaper while still starting out.

5) Chef: Can you cook? Have a favorite dish or dishes? Many Americans do not have the time to cook and they also do not have too much money to spend. They run to fast foods for a quick bite. Most of the fast foods are hazardous to your health. Advertise low calorie, healthy foods to your neighbors, friends, church etc. See if they are willing to buy. Remember Healthy Sutton diet, and some restaurants started small.

6) CPR instructor: Do you know CPR. Why not start CPR classes in your church or neighborhood, library. Get more help from American Heart Association.

7) Adult Care/ sitter: How about working people who need sitters for their elderly parents with Alzheimer or other disabilities?

8) Freelance writing: There are so many web sites online that are willing to pay you to write. Please do not go to sites that ask you to “pay to be paid”. They are frauds. Instead look at sites likeTriond, hubpages. These websites pay based on pay-per-click. Helps to have a paypal account.

9) Pet care : Do you like dogs? There are people who are willing to pay you for walking their dog, or taking them to the vet, or just spend time with their pet while they are gone.

10) Tutor: Can you help kids with their homework? How about tutor math, science, English, foreign language? Help with SAT/ACT preparation. Advertise that you can tutor kids in gropus or individually. Tutor them at the library, at school, church, or in their house. It pays handsomely, but start with low fees. You may even get a reputation and make it a full time career at some point in time. For now start low. Can you teach music or dance lessons

I wish you good luck with your journey. Who knows you may become so successful that you may start your own company and never need a job.
