Introduction

Hello and Welcome to Cooking Dinner when the Cupboards are Bare! Here I plan to share cheap and easy dinner recipes with anyone who is interested.

For the past few years my husband, two children and myself have been scraping by on nearly nothing. We still live with no cable tv, home telephone line and only the barest necessities except DSL (we just got it recently!).

Through living like this I have created many recipes of my own using whatever I could throw together. Most recipes are $5 or less assuming you also have some of the bare necessities.

One characteristic of my recipes is nothing is written in stone. In just about every recipe you will find a few substitutions for each ingredient. I am hoping to develop my own substitutions chart to post on this Hub, hopefully it will be up soon.

Keep in mind that this Hub is not only for other poor folk like myself, but also for anyone who wants to save money on groceries during these rough times. In Cooking when the Cupboards are Bare: Part I, I discuss the staples that should reside in your cupboards, refridgerator and freezer.

Let's get started!

Read the articles I have written below to learn how to turn bare cupboards into a wide variety of dinner masterpieces!
