Where Have the Cheapest Gas Prices Gone?

Gas prices are higher than ever. Sadly, it doesn't look like they'll be going down anytime soon. Nonetheless, there are still ways you and I can fight against these high gas prices and save money!

Nooooo....
Nooooo....

5 Tips To Save Yourself From High Gas Prices

Gas prices just keep going up. But don't let that get you down. There are still things we can do to give ourselves a little relief from these high gas prices!

1.) Carpool

Sometimes carpooling isn't the most convenient, but if you put in a little planning, just think about how much you can save. If you carpool with one other person, you save up to 50% on gas prices! If you carpool with three other people, you save up to 75% on gas prices.

2.) Slow It Down

Most people don't realize this, but if you drop your highway speed (or up your speed for you slow-pokes) so you are driving between 55-65 MPH, you will get much better gas mileage than if you drive between 65-75 MPH. If you drive at faster speeds, your car engine requires more RPMs.

HIgher RPM = less MPG.

For city driving, you can increase your MPG just by keeping all accelerations under 2,000-2,500 RPM. Yeah, you're driving slower, but you're saving gas!

3.) Use the Cruise Control

Whenever you can, use the cruise control. The cruise control keeps your RPMs at a consistent level. This way you're not constantly decelerating and accelerating to keep a consistent speed. All that extra accelerating costs you dearly against those high gas prices.

4.) Draft

Okay, so do this at your own risk. But it definitely ups your MPG if you're able to find a semi to draft behind. You might piss some truck driver off, or you might get pulled over for tailgaiting, but at least you're saving gas, right? What can we say? We're desperate.

5.) Use the Internet

Yes, believe it or not, you can save on gas prices just by using the internet. There are Gas Finder tools that allow you to find the cheapest gas prices in your area. All you do is just type in your zip code, and it shows you the cheapest gas prices for the day. Pretty nifty, huh?
